How do a person from Lithuania send a stuff to Philippines?

My brother told me to tell the guy that he should send it to a courier service so it wouldn't cost me a lot as if the guy is going to send it directly to my address, I need to go to the customs just to get the stuff and it would take me a 12-hour bus trip or a 50 min airplane trip which is ridiculous plus the customs is a bit of a corrupt because I have a friend who bought a kicks from Footlocker and when he was about to pick it up from the customs, the fee to get the stuff costs twice more than the shoe itself and it's so stupid.

But seriously though, how is my friend going to send it? He said he's going to ask the local post office for help but he haven't told me anything about it yet.

 

If it's nothing of an odd/illegal nature, you don't need to go to customs to collect it.

I.e, if someone sends me a book via DHL. It passes through customs on it's way to me, and is delivered to my door step.

 

Oh yeah but the customs here doesn't deliver the stuff so you need to get it by yourself. Yes it's bullshit,

 

If he gets a PO box then im sure the post will deliver it to there, otherwise im afraid you will have to get it from the customs.... if it really is that way there.

 

What are you buying that will get stuck in customs?

Just get it expressed post to your P.0 Box/House address.

Yes it's not really going to get stucked in customs but it would cost me more.

If you can afford it, get it delivered. If you cant, go pick it up.

 

If he sends it as a gift you wont have the pay any taxes on it. For example if you bought a laptop, tell him to write on the note that its a broken laptop for example to get it through

That's not true. Every country has different Tax and gift relevant thresholds. Depends on the amount, age of people involved, and previous dispositions.

I'm going to tell the guy to send it to a courier service address then the courier service will be the one to send it to me.
