Upgrade my graphics card or buy PS4?

This month, I asked my Dad if he can buy me a PS4 but I don't know if I should just buy a graphics card, I've been building a gaming PC since last year June and I haven't even bought a graphics card yet so my build isn't completed yet.

I can't get both of them at the same time as the economy here in the Philippines is different and money can't be earned easily but we're wealthy enough though but I don't think my Dad would allow to get both at the same time as he actually need the money but he still allowed me to buy it.

Should I just get PS4 this month or upgrade my graphics card? I'm also planning to get Xbox One later on as Xbones here comes with a kinect and it costs more than the one without kinect but the one without kinect isn't available here yet so I have to wait until it's available. What do you guys think, just buy a graphics card and buy PS4 later on like September or what?

I think I should also buy PS4 games first so whenever I buy the console, I already have games to play.

 

Personally I'd go with the PS4 first, should last a while and give you a lot of entertainment while you save up for a GPU. I just think the entertainment value of a console > one graphics card a bit early

 

As much as I believe that PC > console, go with the PS4. Consoles were made for budget gaming anyway.

 

Yeah but I have to wait for a month again just to get a game or probably I'll just save money.

 

Personally I'd buy a new graphics card or improve your PC but thats just my opinion and i'm always going to be biased towards PC

Buy a PS4, games have better features and it's just overall a better experience.

and the whole consoles is for budget gaming is just false, yes a pc costs more at first, but with the how cheap pc games go for and sales, you are going to save more money in the long run as you can get most pc games for a good $15 cheaper then console games, which rarely if ever go on sale.


plus a pc is for more then just gaming.

but again it depends on how much more you need for your pc to be complete

 

Highly recomend a new graphics card. PS4's are cool and all but they are far weaker than most gaming computers. computer games are cheaper (easy to get 100% off) and the graphics are better on pc. also with keyboard/ mouse you'll play fps games the way they were designed to be played, and with a cheap wired windows controller you can play all your games with customizable buttons and hot keys. Computer gaming is far better than console gaming. But in the very short run a ps4 is a lot cheaper. I'd buy yourself a nice graphics card. Sometimes however games come out on console a couple months before the PC so if you have to spend (however much a game is where you are) right away I'd say ps4. But I'd just wait a couple months and definitly not download it for free and test it out. You will probably end up selling your ps4 anyways and lose a couple hundred on it, once you can buy your nice PC, I'd just be patiant and keep upgrading your gaming computer.

 

I wouldn't consider buying games to be a factor in any of it because anyone with a pulse can pirate pc games but i'm not sure how pirating ps4 games goes. Either way PC master race all the way.

 

So what if a PC can be used for a lot more? Not everyone wants/needs that.

Enjoy upgrading your hardware every few years (especially the graphics card). Because obviously that doesn't make it more expensive in the long run.

 

What are the rest of your PC specs? If you got a decent PC I'd say buy a video card.

When you get a PC you can play the latest games straight away on Single Player for free.

And if you have Steam and purchase it you can also play to MP.

If you got a good PC I'd say buy a 200-400$ Video card an play every game maxed out.

However, is your PC outdated then go with the PS4. However, Keep in mind that you have to spend almost 50$ every time you want a new game.

Great choice, If you let me know your budget I'm sure I can get you a great videocard. I recently got myself a HD 7950 OC with boost edition card. For only 130 euros. It's 3 GB of GDDR5 memory at a 1Ghz memory clock.

 

i havnt upgraded mine in 3 years and im still running all the new games?


if you account for the money you save by pc gaming i.e. cheaper games compared to consoles, you will more or less pay for your new hardware changes.

 

Highly recommend PC graphic card. Trust me, the time you will save will be worth it at the end

 

This is one you'd really have to explain a little more.

1. How far into the build are you? What kind of processor/RAM/etc.? What are you looking to play on the computer?

2. PS4 - If you are looking for single player games - this might be better. It ALSO gives you the ability to watch BluRays. HOWEVER, if you are looking to use this for multiplayer... You have to purchase Playstation Plus (monthly or everytime you want to play) - this will eat into your money going towards that new graphics card... Although pricing isn't bad ($50 for a year). But keep it in mind. That's $50 extra towards a new game you could want instead. On top of that - most new titles are $60, and each console has one or two exclusive titles that are locked to it... Meanwhile those "exclusive titles" occasionally get pushed to PC as well, or can easily be emulated on a PC.
