    Synthetic likes/followers markets

I've noticed a significant influx of people offering services for likes and followers on various social media platforms.

I believe this market to be in the millions of dollars at this point.

For me, i wanted a decent twitter base but got scammed repeatedly. Now i do not use it.

What are your opinions on this matter?

I think this falls under internet marketing. I suggest taking a look at it on Wikipedia.

Most of the revenue from the people who use these services comes from ads (adsense, pay per click etc.) or selling products (either directly or through affiliate programs). A common strategy is to have these social media platforms advertise your website.

Another use for social media accounts with many followers is to use them to rank your site higher on google searchs (A.K.A. SEO or search engine optimization).

If you'd like more information on the subject feel free to pm me.

    This is only like...5% correct.

Purchasing fake followers don't do shit for conversions, especially for Adsense. You can run fake traffic to boost your traffic numbers a bit, but you can only get so far before they ban your ass. As for affiliate marketing, these are FAKE people, how are you going to be selling them anything?

Fake followers also don't do shit for SEO either, and you need a REAL social media following in order to have any benefit. And even so, the weight social media has on SEO is already significantly reduced, unless you somehow manage to gain a huge legitimate following.

really is no point in doing it, yes you have a high number of lieks etc, but the real people you want to be active still arn't their. so whats the point in having all those fake likes etc when no one is even seeing them lol?

People are so desperate to be "facebook famous" or "instafamous" that it's actually hilarious.

Synthetic likes/subs actually ruins your youtube and Facebook page, because while the likes increase, user participation decreases. Without user participation, REAL users begin to lose interest in your page because there's nothing to interact with. Facebook runs on algorithms that guess at what users would like to see on their feed based on user interaction, and as you gain likes, your page is further diluted and your content is more likely to be filtered out by these algorithms. Even legitimate PAID and sponsored services provided by YT and FB have the same issue because it's been proven their "promote this" option uses the same Indian/Asian based "like-farms" that illegitimate services use.

There's a whole video on it over on Veritasium's youtube page. In all, it's a giant waste of money. Frivolously spent and entirely ineffective no matter the number of likes or subs you get. If your content is truly worth a million likes, it'll get a million likes naturally.

I personally don't care about twitter/insta because it's so obvious for the people who know who you are to tell that they are fake.

If they're trying to impress people online go hard, they're just using something to their advantage.

    I'd never ever buy followers/likes.

It's basically the same thing as buying mini-ranks here. It's just for looks.

A Business will look more professional with 10,000 likes rather than 10.

    Simple as.
