Elliot Rodger

A young man (22 yrs) killed 6 people ( 7 including him self) and wounded around 13 others. He went on a massive killing spree because of his pent up sexual aggression.

He was upset because he couldn't bang the hottest chicks.. his youtube video was actually really fucking scary.


What are your thoughts on this?

Brash, but in all reality very true. Sexual feelings are not meant to be pent up inside and obviously you can't have whatever woman you want whenever you want her. It's actually healthy sexually and mentally to masturbate (at least occasionally).

What happened was tragic though. Blood should never be shed over something as trivial as sexual relations - what people REALLY need to learn is to deal with being alone. The bottom line is, you're going to be alone for the better part of your life regardless and when you find a spouse (who you -think- you're going to spend every waking moment with) they're going to want to be alone and have you be alone as much or more than you're together.

If you can't wake up with nothing and appreciate life for what it really is, you're not going to be happy when you have everything either.

 

This guy has a philosophy podcast which I enjoy, he gives a kind of semi-objective look/analysis of his book which I generally agree with. If you have the time/interest its worth watching, the video isn't for everybody though.

@xOneDown, it was more than just being rejected by girls. It was divorce and abuse and rejection, etc on top of probably a good case of antisocial personality disorder.

He's a racist scumbag to! I feel bad for his parents.. they provided him such a sick life.. and for this dumb idiot to do what he did.. infuriates me.

 

I always found the notion of divorce being so earth-shaking odd. Not that i don't believe/understand it, i just can't personally connect with it. My parents divorced when i was 11 or 12 i believe (unimportant enough that i don't have any kind of recollection) and it just seemed like "eh, knew this was going to happen." From that perspective, would have been odd to experience a divorce which i didn't perceive that way.

Anyway, i'm not naive enough to believe it was purely rejection. My mom always said to me that she thinks people who can commit particularly heinous crimes have to have some sort of mental illness/disorder (not sure what's PC.) I believe that's pretty accurate - i would consider myself to have my share of mental issues, but i've always felt a basic level of empathy for people and had a feeling of regret at the thought of myself committing those sorts of crimes. Not to say i wouldn't kill - i think i would if it were necessary.

 

He was mentally disturbed, had bad life experiences and on top of that, got a lot of hate.

It reminds me of the film American History X. Not because of the killings, but because how an innocent person got messed up and killed because he followed in the footsteps of others and was worried about how it made him look socially.

 

Apparently at one point he was diagnosed with aspergers as well.

 

This attention he's getting now is only going to make him want to do more and more to get it. Should honestly not name or expose people like this, it's ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more. The media sensationalizes + glamorizes the crap out of killers in my opinion. Remember the Boston Marathon Bomber on the cover of Rolling Stone? That was sickening to me.

 

Yeaa I was kind of in awe of that! At the same time I really wasn't simply because that's the kind of shit that sells these days. If the vast majority wasn't engrossed in things like that Rolling Stone wouldn't have made it their cover. "What will sell more copies"

Anywho back on topic, its pretty damn sad. For the victims of course, I could honestly give two fucks if he just killed himself. To be killed for such a worthless petty reason, and not on your own terms is the absolute worst way to go out in my opinion.

From what I've read and watched on youtube (the dudes videos) he was definitely a troubled soul. I'm having some trouble getting facts straight on the guy, but I don't really care about him enough to dig any deeper than I have. I feel terrible for the families and victims involved....the quick death he gave himself just doesn't cut it.

 

Wanna know the most fudged up thing about that whole situation (The magazine)? It was selling on Ebay for 40-50 bucks. Murderibilia I guess? SMH

 

Theres this whole 141 page manifesto he wrote explaining his daddy issues, inferiority complex, parental abandonment, a cruel step mother and all this. But at the end of the day someone can still tell that killing people is wrong. The fact that his actions are being excused because of it all is sickening. I feel stupid for even replying because he deserves no mention or spotlight at all.

Well exactly. The police were sent to his house after they were alerted of the fact he said he'd kill people and a threat of a suicide. The police called him a wonderful person and left him in his house with 4 guns and rounds of ammo. He then uploaded the Retribution video hours before killing anyone; had the police not neglected the situation this would all have been prevented.

But whether he was in therapy or not, it does not ever excuse murder.
