I don't think a staff member should get the feeling of greatness from scamming a user, but I cannot speak on this issue properly, so it'd be nice to get input from the other staff members who scammed before/after their moderatorship.

What's worse, is you defend your actions by saying the user turned around and did the exact same thing. Did you ever stop to think that he did it as a result of you scamming him. He probably thought the community was full of scammers and as such made the bad decision of doing the same as his way of leaving the community, but if you hadn't provoked him, perhaps it might not have happened. You seem to be really defensive, but no one FORCED you to scam this guy, so why are you getting defensive about it.

If him scamming more than you makes you feel better, so be it. Whatever you want to do to cope with it.

I'm only going to focus on this part since it is something I can relate to. I was OMM prior to admitting to a scam back in 2011. If you think about it, once the conscious choice to scam is made then you are obviously going to be happy once you have achieved your goal. You now have more than you had previously. Everyone wants it all in return for nothing, so some stoop to illegitimate means of achieving this. Speaking bluntly, at it's core sythe.org is a cesspool. It is a website dedicated to being a blackmarket for runescape. Obviously a lot of the users of sythe will therefore be immature which I'd have to say is one of the main factors towards whether someone will scam or not. I know it was for me, I was a lot younger at the time along with some other things but in time I changed, so much so that I refunded the user and admitted this to all. I'm sure josh0 knows this feeling. The current staff team is a great example of reforms: Josh0is0here, n4n0, Dave have all scammed in the past and are all at different levels of the staff team.

 

I don’t have feeling of greatness and if the user was around I’d repay them ten times over. I was simply saying they aren’t and I have tried to do the best since then. I am not defending my scamming I am just giving you the accounts of what happened. I have since confessed and pardoned. The reason why I got so defensive is because the user that posted before you was posting incorrect information about the ordeal and I wanted to set the record straight. But in case you missed it, I regret my actions however you can’t change the past only the future. The creation of Josh0is0here account should prove that to you, I have been around over seven years since I scammed that day. I have helped numerous users since that day and haven’t scammed anyone.

Was that directed toward me, because I would love to know what gives you that impression? Because since that scam 500k pin scam, I created Josh0is0here and have been MM trades over 200 plus dollars. If I was a scammer I would of taken that money and ran. Like I seriously don’t get it, if I wanted to scam would I really sit here and tell ya’ll about my past? Also, check my market activity it’s near nonexistent.

OMFG Trin still owes me that damn pizza! And yes I think Dave or someone deleted my report a scammer thread, which is complete and total censorship.

Fuck man, I never thought I would say these words but I fully agree with Jack Goff. I would also like to point out the amount of time it takes to get a staff position isn’t worth scamming. You can easily make more money working one day at McDonalds then scamming on Sythe. Plus the pay is more constant. In addition I have used my real names on Sythe.org and if I ever did scam I would be risking future employment because an employer will do a google search of your name. Lastly, what some users don’t realize is if a staff members needs something we help one another out. Ask Govind without him, I probably wouldn’t have passed college. /end rant.

 

i hope my posting is not considered gravedigging, but JOsh you are the shit man. You and I have spent so much time in the past talking and interacting. Its so hard to believe that after all this time, you and I are still around. Just chilling. You are a great example of how the communities of the internet should act. Fuck the whole you scammed 7 years ago. I remember that shit, and its in the past. You went above and beyond to rectify the problem, and as a Mod now you should feel great that you can talk about it and that you manned up..

I hope that you and I will continue to be a part of this community for years to come. Long after all the Yakovs, Shinoda, and Deacon Frosts are all gone.

Very much so, and I'm currently working part time as a software developer. I should know within the next week or so if it will be turning into a full time gig.
