need some help with my guitar

I couldn't remember my yahoo password for yahoo answers so figured id give this a wild shot in hopes some of the few musicians here might be able to know whats going on as I have played guitar for many years but I never learned much about the building of them.

MY problem I have is a guitar I picked up recently has an awesome sound that would be great for metal music my only problem is you really gotta try to legato or tap on it. and I can play songs by the likes of malmsteen, vai, gilbert etc. so i know that my ability is definitely not the problem. any help is appreciated.

 

I don't know much about the guitar (trumpet for me) and when you say awesome for metal, however you have to play legato right. Doesn't that mean the guitar is the wrong type e.g, don' you need a classical? sorry if i can't help
