I'd like to see a change in it's current presentation.

It's too easy to acquire if you already donated $25, and there isn't much verification of the user. The rank can be misleading to new users and holds no value. The safety of our users should be the highest priority, so this means changes are essential to maintain protocol.

Having the traders information is not a benefactor if the sythe verified user intends on scamming. He or she knows that their contact information will be released to the person they scammed.

Using Paypal as the center of all this was the first mistake, especially for a site that revolves around virtual transactions.

Because it isn't a suggestion. I'm giving my feedback on the rank's current purpose. I could share my ideas, but I think it would be better if staff members can acknowledge how defective it is.

I've found that scammers on sites like these aren't willing to give our their phone numbers. As long as the system verifies that it's an actual phone number, the odds that the person is illegitimate decreases significantly.

What use is a phone number if the recipient doesn't pick up? Blocking a number that calls constantly is not the hardest thing to do.

SVU process is not so bad at all.
Admins have the verified member phone number, paypal adress, and the irl adress from the paypal. That's enough to put someone on blacklist in future if the svu member scamm someone.
If any of you have advice for better verification which won't breal any laws it will be step forward, but by the way it is now,i think is good.

I like the ideas of tiers/levels of SVU.

Make the SVU badge a different color everytime they get a new tier. You can advance tiers by every 25-50 vouches that are confirmed with a mod.

While this sounds good in thought, there is no clear indication of what the colors represent in the perspective of a new user. Of course it would be explained somewhere on the site, but the impulsiveness of "most" users will make it pointless.

My current problem is trying to figure out if a name change would be viable. We can't get rid of the rank for obvious reasons, and changing it's name may prove to be a bother with the proper adjustments needed to compensate the modification.

I have an idea, but it isn't fullproof.

Another rank would have to be created to swap for SVU. I will explain this throughly when I'm not fatigued. Sharing your thoughts would be helpful.

Something along the lines of bronze, silver, gold, maybe even platinum with one, two, three and so on stars representing a greater level of verification.

There isn't very much one can do online to verify someone, though.

I agree. The elements would be a best fit.

There should be three levels of SVU, bronze (the current), silver and gold.

A silver upgrade can be acquired by representing the amount of vouches you have. This would be done by requesting approval in a thread. Staff members can view the users vouches to assure there is some level of quality and legitimacy. The amount of vouches for this upgrade should be 100.

In order to get gold, the user must have 300 vouches (verified by staff). I'm not sure about the other requirements for gold. It should not be easy though.

Also, staff members can deny upgrade requests even if the user has the amount needed. This can be because of suspicious user activity, or quality of the vouches.

    Thoughts?

Manual verification of vouches is just not gonna happen or work unfortunately. Be so tediously shit you'd have to pay someone to do it lol.

Doesn't make it any less not-gonna-happen :p Plus people would have to have sufficient proof for each trade/vouch. More hassle than it's worth because vouched people still scam and vouches aren't insurance-like, which I assume was the point in SVU - you get some sort of info back.

This is frustrating. You can argue that vouches are more of a verification than SVU itself. The current option does not provide insurance to anyone which os worrying. While automating may be efficient and less of a bother, it would be impossible to automate verification of a user. Manually would be the best if compromised.

Vouches aren't the way to go. People can look at vouches and make assumptions as is.
