Any interest in custom gold shops?

My friend is considering developing a software in PHP meant just for gold shops. But he wants to gauge the interest and see if anyone else would buy it. Basically you would be able to license software that acts as a gold shop (though it would be custom coded - think of it as to what vBulletin did for forums, this would do for gold shops).

It would be a HIGHLY customizable gold shop supporting all payment methods where you have many settings to change around in the admin panel. We would not take a cut of your profits, nor would we manage your payments, we just sell you the site (so it's not necessarily competing with the existing services out there that charge 5% to keep you safe from chargebacks). All payment methods (Bitcoin, Skrill, Paypal, Western Union, etc) would be automated and include either the official IPNs or a custom made notifier to make sure the payment went through.

It would also include testimonials, user accounts, coupons, blacklists, etc. and all of it would be customizable and you have the ability to activate or deactivate it whenever you want.

He's considering charging ~$200-300 for this per license, and more for a custom theme obviously, though you can develop a theme yourself or hire someone else to do it if you really wanted. It would come with a default generic theme, but you wouldn't want your site looking the same as all the others.

Would anyone be interested in purchasing if he did this (would be about a month from now until it's released)? If not, why?

I would be interested if I had proof the guaranteed my safety and his knowledge of making sites, I would be willing to pay $200 tops for it.

 

It wouldn't be viable. RSUltimate had a custom system, only because we were first going to do other services, however, most current checkout systems work fine for selling gold, and any popular gold site has moved on to a regular system.

Unless you can make it BETTER than all of those, and also allow them to import it from other systems, which would cost weeks to make, no one will really want it. And that means you'd have to get at least $2,000-$3,000 out of it.
