    Motivation on RS3

    Hey guys

So my interest/motivation to play RS3/07 is at an all time low, both for 2 reasons.

On RS3, my original main is primarily a skiller with a 2200 total with 171 combat. After quitting pretty much entire EOC transition period for like 1-2 years and playing for the beginning of this entire year, I just see so may max capes/comp capes as well as new content. No1 in this game plays for anything except for "xp gains" which is so dumb imo. All those minigames that I have awesome memories or like cw are all dead content because all people care about is xp. Makes me feel like even if i work hard and get lvl 200, i'll still be a year behind in playing time to catch up.

On 07, really just time investment and the thought of starting completely over which is fucking annoying.

What keeps u guys motivated on this game?

The goals I set for myself keep me motivated. Playing RS3 can be very discouraging if you started late, or are having trouble catching up with everyone else. Yes, playing oldschool gets tedious for veteran players, but after you get passed all that, it's really fun and I recommend you play it.

Yeah. I feel like this is how MMORPGs die. Developers obviously have to dev more content -> old people dont like it -> some quit -> as time moves on, gap between new and old players is too large and so new players have very little motivation to play it -> the oldest players who are the vets to the game eventually quit because theyve accomplished everything and eventually die out/get tired of it. I feel like RS is getting to the second to last phase lol. thank god for 07, i might try it, idk i'll see

It's expected from an old game like runescape. Content will continue to build up, there is nothing we can do. The conflict between new and old will always be vague, left without proper judgment. I hope you can find the spark you're looking for with oldschool.

If Legacy combat coming back is not enough motivation, then nothing will be.

When I want motivation I just think about the skill cape that I like, or the armor I would want to have.

Just do things you like. I liked playing 07 as ironman mode when it came out, now its bullshit.

Just read reddit, watch streams , skype with friends and browse interwebs while you play so you wont get bored.

Do some goals that you are confident of. We would love to see your logs and if that makes us happy I think it should motivate you

Staking is always what has drawn me back to Runescape. I absolutely hate gambling, i think it's a pretty horrid waste of cash. I'd rather buy heroin then go to the pokies.

Do love a good Stake @ the duel arena though. It's like kiddy gambling or someshit and i can justify it to myself.

I take breaks for years at a time and then come back. That works for me.

TBH most of the old schoolers are either already maxed or have quit because like you said it's all about dem gainez! :p

Anyways I have completely lost interest also, its sad to say but my time has gone, it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

    Motivation on RS3

I treat Runescape 3 predominantly as a Single Player game now. I'm not anti-social, but I set my own goals for personal entertainment and gratification. Sure, I'll keep my friends in the loop of what I'm doing, the few that still play... But Runescape is so barren nowadays anyway that it's not hard to pretend I'm playing a single player game.

Why bother comparing yourself to others? In the past, that was a cool barometer or progress...but now..it's pointless.

Everyone and their mother has a 99. Might as well just set your own goals and be happy with them. You'll enjoy the game a lot more that way.

I played from 2007ish I think, but tons of breaks in between and I certainly did not play 4hrs+ day on any occasion. As I said I've also taken at least 2 years worth of breaks
