Permanent Participation Miniranks

Doubt I'll ever get 1k posts never mind 1k in a specific section I'd still support this suggestion though

Although before we do this we should look at making more relevant ranks for sections that hyperlink to said section

 

I posted a sandbox suggestion about this, the completely irrelevant miniranks are stupid lol. Start another sandbox thread?

 

I like that idea ye sounds good then everyone will have loads of permanent mini ranks what if they get the rank and then just stop posting.

If anything 1000 posts or so encourages activity.

Matt isn't a fan. Because the idea of participant ranks is to maintain activity, not get the 1k rank then stop.

 

Don't think you should be able to get permanent mini-ranks from posting. That would devalue mini-ranks in general and a lot more people would have them. No support.

Plus I really don't see why people wouldn't stop posting after they got the mini-rank. What if they even stopped and became inactive, then a lot of inactive accounts would have mini-ranks.

The less people with mini-ranks and the harder they are to obtain, the better. In my opinion. And this is coming from someone who doesn't have a mini-rank.

I personally think it would be really annoying to see lots of people with mini-ranks, and I can easily see this happening if this suggestion was added to the site. Honestly I think if this was carried through in the far future it would just eventually end up making activity decrease because if everyone has mini-ranks, they aren't special anymore and suddenly people stop trying to get them. Seeing mini-ranks on inactive accounts of people who would get the 1k postcount then quit a month later would devalue them completely.

No one posts the required 12-20 times or whatever just to get the minirank. He realizes that the 1000 post miniranks would look different right? 1000 posts would take forever, months probably. What's the harm if someone stops posting in a section after months? It'd still be more activity than someone going for the temporary minirank a few times. Also why isn't he supposed to implement suggestions and not be the sole decider? Tell him to look at the actual thread.

I feel like you don't know what minranks are, there are people with four whole racks of them. You can get them for just posting in a thread, etc. This doesn't do anything to devalue miniranks.
