User Tagging

There are features on facebook and instagram that allows people to type @ and then the username to notify them of a response or a comment.

This could help increase the flow of activity on an already extremely active site.

Just sayin

My guess it that the community is far too childish and this feature will be abused to spam-notify certain unliked users.

 

Great point, i forgot that there was an option where a user could subscribe to a certain thread. I guess the stupidity behind a potential flood of 100+ notifications could potentially devastate activity.

However, tagging is somewhat different. If someone finds a thread they know another user is looking for they could just type @username look here, and they would instantly be notified. However this post contradicts with my first point of this post xD
