So the guys who threw tons of money at this site with no benefit aside from what we all get from donating should lose out, because a select few greedy fucks don't want the market to be diluted?

If a store starts selling something for half price after you bought it they aren't gonna give you half back. People donated because they wanted to donate and didn't need nor want further incentive to do so. Other people might not want to donate because there isn't enough incentive.

It's not all about the minirank market specifically; if everyone who's donated large amounts gets lots of miniranks then it's not an incentive any more because everyone has them and they aren't worth any money any more. That's what the whole incentive would be.. getting potentially 50% to 200% of the money back in a minirank.

your logic doesnt apply here cus this isn't a fucking store.

Also the incentive it's supposed to be, of well if i do this, ima get this, then i can sell this. so yea lets do this so i can make money.

it's suppose to be, lets participate in the activity, and get this thing, it sure does look neat.

Honestly the way things are, i would remove 90% of the miniranks if i had le power to do so.

Just from watching the debate go on, I can tell there is a bit of tension about this. These miniranks that have no use and arbitrary value is dividing the site as we type our replies and start our threads.
A donation in the most basic meaning is contributing something of value to an entity with no intent on receiving a return. The prizeboxe update offers these useless pixels called miniranks to provide incentive for people to donate, not a chance for a return. But, because people value these miniranks so highly, that's what it has become.

In my opinion, the update should be scrapped to avoid conflict between the users of Sythe. If someone feels inclined to donate money to the site like the past big dontors have, then that shows their appreciation and not just a hope for profit margin.

    tl;dr -
    Option 4: Scrap the update.

Math tells me that if the mini ranks that you get are distributed evenly, the price of mini-ranks will fall dramatically and there will be shit tons of them. If some are more rare than others, the price of some will still be high while the price of others will be very low. Again, we end up with shit tons.

The problem is that you can always buy a new mini-rank for a set price. The only catch is that it is random. After enough have flooded the market, no will be no incentive to get this random mini-rank unless new ones keep coming out and old ones get retired.

So what should happen is that the first mini rank costs $150 bucks (since you have to donate $100 at first). Then the next one costs you $75. Then the next one $100. Then $125 and so on.

So the costs for x number of mini ranks is below:

    Code:
    1) $150
    2) $225
    3) $325
    4) $450
    5) $600
    6) $775
    7) $975
    8) $1200
    9) $1450
    10) $1625

The total cost per mini rank on one account is:

    Code:
    1) $150
    2) $112.5
    3) $108
    4) $112.5
    5) $120
    6) $129
    7) $139
    8) $150
    9) $161
    10) $162.5

So what this tells us is that it is cost effective to use multiple accounts to buy three mini-ranks each at $108 each. Since it is unlikely for people to average $108 for each sale of mini-ranks (just to break even) it is unlikely that this donation system would be abused to make money which would mean that the market is less likely to be flooded by mini ranks. Combine this with new mini ranks and retiring old ones (stop giving them out) and you can create what I feel would be a very strong mini rank economy.

In addition you can give $1000 donors 7 of these boxes since that is not all that much (even though I do hate them and think there should be a limited number displayed at once).

Miniranks are supposed to be desired, so we can give them away as prizes for events as well as this new venture. Who desires something everyone's got lots of? Not many people.

Option 2, who cares about diluting the market when "rarer" mini-ranks will still be desirable? I agree that mini-ranks should not be viewed as a market, anyway, but rather for fun.

I personally think that it shouldn't be a single donation of $50, but a total of $50 donated. I think people are forgetting that $50 is a lot of money to some people..

I think it should be kept at a box per $50's worth of donations, if not - implement some more higher donation perks..

I think option 2, I don't care about minirank value, I think the prices are already too high to be fun/worth it.

I'm voting 3. I didn't donate to receive miniranks, it's cool y'all are willing to retroactively give me and the other oldfag donors miniranks at all. I wanna keep miniranks special and as cool as it would be to suddenly receive 21 miniranks, I think that might be overkill. I think users who donated more should be rewarded with more miniranks, but how you choose to break that down is up to you
