Has anyone tried baking their graphics card? I'll find a link when I get on my computer. One of mine died on me, so I want to see if it might help.

Sure, why not give it a shot? Worst case scenario you end up with a dead graphics card (still).

If it's really the solder that's failing, why not get a soldering iron and replace some of the big solder clusters with new stuff instead.

 

wtf? Actually baking your GPU? Heat causes damage to hardware, too much heat will kill it.

 

I've actually done this with a motherboard before. It usually works, if you leave it in there for just a few minutes. However, I've discovered it's only a temporary fix. My mobo only lasted me another 2-3 weeks before it died completely.

I've done this before with my old 360. It made it work for about 2 months and then it died completely. I wouldn't recommend it unless it's a last resort.

Very common for laptop repairs. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. When it does work, depending on how well you reflow it you can get a long-term fix out of the job....other times it only lasts a few months.

Sounds fucking stupid but if it's broken you have nothing to lose. I'd try and get some free shit or something from the company though. Maybe a coupon or whatever.
