Professional

It's becoming more the habit for people to preface their threads or posts with 'professional' without any material to bolster this claim. Or if there is material provided, it's questionable in terms of effects, appearance, and overall polish (or lack thereof) that it strikes me as nothing short of underwhelming.

What exactly is the criteria behind 'professional'?

 

Professional= you doing it for a living

what you are talking about is the clean look. which would stray away from the crazy 3d effects with a shit tons of overlays and flairs and sutch.

its just nice and clean and straight to the point with some nice design incorporated in to it. (minimalistic is the key) you also got to know when to stop. another thing is that you got to pay attention to detail. thaing such as a drop shadow that is just 2 pixels to big. you got to use your design skills more rather than just grabbing a few stock textures, lights, and flaiers. you make everything from scratch. (thumbnails and sketching is a big part of it.)

OT: Good quality, good attitude, ability to produce suitable material for a variety of projects, and the desire to progress and learn.

 

Pro used to mean that you had a firm understanding of photoshop and usually you've won a few battles.

Professional usually means that you can support yourself completely through graphic design.
