How the hell do we let the government rape our paychecks, almost 20% of my check gets taken out because of taxes then at the end of the year i 'owe" the government more of my money.

in 1773 the government tried taxing one item, tea and it was only for 3% and that started the American Revolution. Now we just let them take anything and everything they want from us and yet we as a country are still trillions and trillions of dollars in debt.

Someone please explain to me why we aren't revolting right now?

Because taxes go towards lots of new things which have been introduced, for example education, health and lots of other things. It's all increased in price from the time of the American Revolution and that money has to come from somewhere.

I agree it has to come from somewhere, but i think that they waste lots of our money and then they make us pay more because they cant control the way they spend.

And you know how much our money is spent exactly? I agree to some point, for example benefits, especially in England. Half the fuckin' country claims benefits because they're too lazy to work, all the money coming from the working population. :/

The city i live in got a welfare office, ever since then all these minorities took over a whole street in out town and just collect their benefits and have kids, the more kids they have the more money they get so they just keep having kids and we just keep paying them more money to be scumbags.

They don't even require anything to get it just to have been fired from your last job, its sickening.

How did the world go around before we ever had to pay taxes?

Welfare is definitely stupid as fuck, there are very few cases where the person legit needs them, most of the time it's just lazy twats living off the government (taxes).

I understand that sometimes people need some extra help, but people do it for their whole life when they're more than capable to work.

It has always been my opinion that taxation is theft, the services that they provide are mediocre, over budget, etc. If I don't pay them they will seize my property or throw mw in jail, if I defend my property I will be shot.

i earn $770 a week and have to pay around $80 in tax of that each week.

I don't need $700 a week to live so i am more than happy to lose $80 of that as tax but its when i have to pay 10% GST on everything that i buy i get pissed.

Not targeting you or anything, but If you guys knew anything about economics you would know to have a healthy economy you would need about 5% of the population unemployed (leeches).

These other people claiming are taking advantage of a broken system which is smart. My father did the same thing. When the economy hit the low end of the business cycle he claimed food stamps and free school lunches for us (even though I eat out like everyday so idk what the hell that was for). I just filled in my FAFSA info today, so I had to get mine and my fathers tax records from the IRS, and there is no way it should even be possible for him to be able to apply for it, let alone receive it. If your able to take advantage of something like that, why wouldn't you? That's like 2-4% of the money taken from his taxes he gets back.

I do Economics at uni, so I wouldn't say I was totally clueless. Unemployment in the UK is over 7% at the moment, to the point where interest rates are at an all time low to try and increase spending. The fact that banks are doing this shows that unemployment is too high in the UK, so the people I talked about (leeches) aren't helping the economy at all.

Not necessarily, for the moment your on the low end of your business cycle wouldn't you agree? Now the short time benefits are little to none, and honestly it's just pushing your country into debt, or increasing your taxes. But For homeowners and people who still owe money on vehicles and what not its a positive thing. With rates being the lowest they've ever been, there probably saving there selves $100,000 on there home loans alone if they refinance there fixed rate. So for people still able to support themselves it's one of the better times to take advantage. My parents home loan was 10.7% after the crash about 1 month in the refinanced at 3.8%. Look at the glass half full not half emtpy.

I'm still in Highschool, but for 4th hour I travel to the U of M (our states university) for economics, also going for a major in accounting and finance with a minor in business management next year.

You only lose $80 a week of that? In England your tax bracket would take double that from you...

My girlfriend is making almost a grand a week and barely getting 800 of it.

I think its bullshit that we HAVE to pay taxes, so much for land of the free huh? I have to pay the government money that i earned in order to keep my job. That's gonna motivate me to want to keep a job for sure! The government just sucks ever penny they can out of the 99% and give it to the 1% who don't even need it. Our government is run by corporations, not the people.

My dad used to earn over £120,000 a year and he was getting taxed basically 50% of it in England. He then moved to Bahrain where there's 0% tax and he keeps all of his pay check, haha.

At least you know what you want to do, I'm still not sure if I like Economics enough to do it at uni haha.

But yeah, UK growth is still pretty shitty at the moment, even with these massive encouragements to spend. You can't really say but "oh, some people might have saved a bit on a loan" when on the wider scale, things aren't looking great. Growth is rising at a slower rate than everyone predicted, while interest rates are at an all time low - which is meant to promote growth. If there is little correlation between the two, you can't really say it's a positive thing if no one is spending.

I still don't understand exactly how the lowest interest rates ever is a bad thing. Obviously it's meaning is bad because the first thing the Federal bureau will try to do to promote spending, next would be printing money but no one want's inflation. For the people who are still holding a job and are going through a struggle getting their rates adjusted will saves them hundreds of thousands in the long run, the difference between a 10% loan and a 3.8% are gigantic. The economy will go back up, the same thing is happening in the US, the only reason our PPF curve didn't take so long was because we put in billions on billions into our economy. But the short term results for a fix will fuck us over in the end because where never going to be able to pay anything off.

It's a give and take. You can see at as progression as a whole or you can look at it as individual finance. Where both right, we just look at things in two different senses.

1776 was about taxation without representation. You have representation. Not the same.

I'm currently paying over 50% of my wages towards taxes and child support each week. I agree it's a bit excessive.
