From my short time being here, I've noticed a few people that come in a few months ago and build up a small reputation and donate to seem legit, then when they get a big enough trade they just scamquit. Just the other day I needed to get a recruit for dragondyce, the user 2007gpsales Pm'ed me and they were my recruit, I noticed they were a donor and had some vouches, today I find out they scammed 20m 07 in the dicing section. I am a new user to the sythe forums and as some of you know I'm a host at dragon dyce & I don't want that vibe directed at me. I may be new but I'd like to think I'm very trusted and I'm here to build up a reputation and get to know you all. Sorry for the rant haha, just felt like putting this out there.

Why do people think Donating a few dollars via paypal makes that person trusted?

Stop thinking that and you will be fine.

It's better to look at postcount and joindate than donations, requires way more time than donating 5$ or 25$

Use a OMM with big trades and you will be fine. Post-count / donation doesn't mean anything.

    EG: Some scam-quitters donate 100$ scam 300$ = 200$ profit.

There are people tho who I would trust with my whole bank.

    Look at it like this:

Assume everyone here is out to scam you. [That may be over-dramatic] Use wise trading practices and you should be fine. If you are trading anyone that makes you feel uncomfortable in anyway, find an OMM or do not go through with the trade. Period. That is what I have done since my last scam [two years ago] and it works great for me.

Or be willing to sacrifice some profit and sell to the major gold sellers. Yes the price hit may suck, but you are guaranteed your money which is always a good thing.

Pretty daft thing to say as a staff member and leader of this site.

@OP, just be vigilant. Ignorance isn't an excuse to fall victim to a scam. A few extra minutes taking the correct precautions is not alot to ask.

There's been a hundred people who have said the same exact thing you are saying right now and low and behold in less than 2 months they are almost always banned.

Like many have mentioned above, don't rely on postcount and donation amount. Be sure to check join date and vouches, see if they are recent and I would go for quality over quantity. Also check posts and threads to see if the user you're trading with isn't doing anything sketchy (buying bulk gold with pp .40/m and selling it .28/m PP) for example.

Using a relatively trusted middleman or an OMM is also always a very good idea. Just make sure to verify skypes and ask for a verification pm before EACH trade.

That being said, good luck with your trading :)

How is that Daft? I am pretty sure that at one time in your Sythe career, you felt like everyone was a scammer. He wanted honest advice and I gave it. I also did say that it may be a bit of an extreme example.

The thing I've noticed with the major goldsellers are that there skypes get hacked constantly. I know to request a sythe pm but sometimes I don't know whats safe haha, like what if there sythe account got hacked and they scammed you, then you're screwed.

Depending on the amount scammed, they will almost always pay you back depending on the person and how badly they want to remain on the site.

I don't think it is "daft" - It's accurate and good advice. A large portion of this site is made up of scammers.

The simplest (and arguably best) system:
    1. Look in your trading partner's vouches for the highest amount that someone has gone first to them for.
    2. Don't go first to them for more than this amount.

    Definitely this.
Also use a trusted middleman for most of your trades, always request a PM right before the trade is started, and don't fall for sales that seem too good to be true because most of the time they are.

Post count and donation amount doesn't mean anything. Some people have limits and when those are passed, you are going to be scammed.
