Nowadays more and more people are taking matters into their own hands and becoming a law-enforcing citizen. I am from Detroit, MI one of the worst crime rate cities of all time, and lately on the news I've been watching citizen's of Detroit stand up for themselves by killing criminals and law breakers to defend their home and property.

However, does it concern you the more and more people who decide to own a gun the more incidents will occur such as kids finding the gun, neighbors accidentally shooting someone because they knocked on their door for a cup of sugar, or how about the guy in the grocery store who scares the shit out of people with his pants saggin and hoodie on and has a permit to own one?

Not to the extent of murder; no. I think there's intervening and helping e.g. chasing down a thug that took your grannies handbag and there's over-the-top insanity like chasing down those who have wronged and kicking seven shades of shit out of them because you feel like they deserve it. I'll vote yes, though, because to an extent I feel we have to stand by our neighbours and so on.

I live in Texas and we have the castle law. It means stay the fuck out of my house (if univited), place of business and vehicle or I will blow your fucking brains out. Within the law too.

Its a great law, Ive yet to have to use my weapons n self defense. I really think this castle law gives criminals a second thought. Im willing to bet there are signifigantly less breakins here per person. While this is hardly vigilantism since it is legal but it seems appropriate for your scenario. Im all for people sticking up for themselves regardless of the law.

We don't need it in places like Canada and Us where for the most part the law enforcement isn't corrupt and does it job, regardless of how much you hate the popo or the feddies lol they still do their job, but places like mexico where the cartel are stronger than the goddamn army of the country than its needed for sure, i read a article on VICE about this a lot of citizens there are starting to take down cartel groups which is pretty cool that their doing what the government is shit at doing or just scared to

I agree with your Roary. We should all be able to protect ourselves and our loved ones. I would hate to have to murder someone criminal or not.

But when it comes down to it if it's me or them, its going to be them

I find it strange that people are saying not to the extent of murder really.

A human naturally believes in kill or be killed, that's just how we're designed to operate, I've been in situations where I thought my life was in danger and my families. In those situations you think a lot differently, it's all well and good sat here thinking logically while you're sat at your desk. I can safely say it doesn't work like that in these situations.

Guy came into my house with a knife, my girlfriend was sat on the couch talking to my mum, I happened to be upstairs at the time. I hear shouting and run downstairs. The moment you actually see that situation for the first time, logic goes out the window, entirely gone. At this moment right now it's kill or be killed. Guy ended up on the wrong side of his own knife, Was only to his legs, but he didn't walk away from it without the help of an ambulance crew.

I strongly believe I made the correct choice, I'd do it again if I had to, It still pisses me off to this day that I let him leave with heavy leg wounds because I fear he might attempt this again to somebody else after I let him go essentially. If you were in a situation where you had to protect something you cared about, You'd kill a man in order to protect it.

You might not feel like it right now, but when it comes down to it, anybody can kill a man for the right reasons.

Only representatives of the State ( which no one has proven the existence of ) have the capacity to decide whether murder is justified or not?

By definition the individual has to be granted "rights" to enforce the law by a state.

    100% for "vigilantism".

    I totally agree.

Wow, sorry to hear about that, the only problem is if you were too kill him you'd be the one slapped in the face by the law - depends where you live I guess. I'd like to think that if I were ever put in your position that I'd be brave enough to do the same, though.

Thus far, there's no distinction between action-reaction vs premeditated vigilantes on this thread.

If I had a gun, and was witnessing the imminent death of myself or another innocent person, I would make no hesitation in killing the aggressor. My aim isn't great, so I wouldn't waste time on CSI Criminal Minds "shoot the knees to incapacitate" bullshit aiming. I'd shoot for the torso, and double tap if he moves.

As for dressing up as batman and patrolling the streets, looking for crime or conducting my own investigation into suspected law breaking, no. It's not my business, I'm not trained for that, and I'd probably end up making it worse for myself and all involved. So no, I don't support premeditated vigilantism.

I disagree with all humans naturally believes in killed or be killed. There are some who try to find a way out of the situation without death occuring. I've seen people threaten to kill someone if they don't leave opposed to shooting them because they really don't want to kill anyone. But for me your right on the last part if I am put in the situation I'd shoot to kill.

I agree. Although there are some wanna be Trigunners out there. lol
