ADC. I need some help.

I main ADC, but sometimes i find it's hard to carry with, i know this could be largely due to the meta being favoured to tanks and assassins.

Do any of you guys (Mainly aimed at plat+ players) have any tips on carrying with ADC?

Just an example of a game i just played. Maybe this was just a stupid game as my team (except Eve) just didn't care at all, Morgana refusing to buy wards, Malphite engaging multiple times 1v5 >.<. And yes... I technically lost lane to AP Ezreal.

 

I think this is more of your teams fault, as you said, only eve was trying and the rest didn't, if I were you, I'd try to invite my own teammates that play well

 

This is ranked, so I would only be able to play DuoQ anyway. But to be honest, i have no-one around my elo on my friends list to play with.

Aim at improving your lane presence especially the combination between CS'ing and harassing the oponent.
Harassing him will largen the gap in CS as the oponent will have to make an active choice, whether to attack you back to stay somewhat close in health, or take the CS - some people completely panic and go back leaving with damage loss and cs loss. Therefore it is quite important that you time your harass according to YOUR OWN MINION'S HEALTH - in order to leave the oponent with the choice.

Also you may NOT let your supports' mistake result in you dying/making a followup mistake, this is a huge problem in platinum. Allow your support to help you, and win you the lane, but if he's bad don't let it ruin YOU. Rather let 1 fall than the entire botlane.
And you;re right, there's alot of tanks whom are dominant in the current "meta", therefore you see alot of ADC's especially at higher level build LW earlier than usual (most cases 3rd item but i do see 2nd item LW rush from time to time)

The first thing is more so aimed for silver-gold players, overall practice your mechanics, and the second thing is a general problem that occurs for most plat level players.

I think the first point is something I really need to work on. I usually rely on my support a lot (unless I am playing someone such as Caitlyn) to take more control of getting a damage onto enemy champions while still getting CS. I also love playing Lucian so a lot of the time I get poke by repositioning slightly then using Q to hit the enemy ADC, sometime this results in missing 1-2 CS though.

For your second point, I never dive in if I know that it wouldn't be worth. Like in the first game (in the OP) I was 2/0/3 while the rest of my teams had over 20 deaths total. I always like to play relatively safe as it helps me to try and carry the game as my opponent would generally be further behind. (This may sound stupid but I have like a 3.99 KDA on Lucian after 32 games haha) some champions I can do this better on, such as Lucian and Caitlyn, but other champions such as Vayne (higher skill cap I guess) I get more deaths.

I think a key area of gameplay I really need to work on in getting a perfect balance between playing safe, harassing the opponent, having the best position while also getting good CS. I wouldn't say my positioning is too bad (I can usually get out of situations that would usually result in death pretty easily) but I always struggle with controlling everything else while doing good with last hitting.

^ agreed. Bot lane has to be the hardest lane. Mechanically. Takes 2 people to work well to gather in lane.

 

Positioning is really a key component to winning lane.
There is a few things that constructs the baseline to how you should play your lane.

One of which is your oponent's ADC champion, the champion's range? his spells, their support, what support is he playing? Leona? better keep a safe distance from her E, is it on this side? no couse if i stand here the jungler can gank me.

These are thoughts that you should keep in mind, and you get a feel for when you play alot of one role.

See specially in this case you see what big of a difference it is to play alot of one role only. If you main and play ADC for the majority of your games you will know all ADC champions inside out, even if you ONLY play lucian, you will know what other ADC champions do, couse you play against it, and make active choices to prevent their damage output. You will know their Attack-range, you will know their cooldown on their spells, you will know the range of said spells, you will know about their kill-potential/burst-potential vs yours.

Another big thing about positioning+harassing is the minions... Alot, ALOT of players take like x1.5 of the damage they deal, BACK from the enemy's minions, even though the oponent didnt opt to harass you back. That is quite silly. Alwas utilize the brush after a good punch/harass in order to DE-AGGRO the minions that started aiming you as you harassed the enemy.

Their Ezreal was 4/0/9. Part of that was obviously your team, but in low ELO it's your job to make sure he doesn't get the opportunity to snowball. AP Ezreal loses trades hard and has a hard time farming under tower, so you should have been forcing him to trade a lot and deny him farm by pushing tower. You can also take an AP Ezreal's tower really early and use that map control advantage to secure a lot of dragons and take mid early, as well.

Also, Morgana isn't warding? Buy your own fuckin' wards. It's annoying to be an item "behind" because your support isn't buying a sightstone, but if it's your team's only chance at keeping choke points warded, get the sightstone.

 

This Ez was just ripping into us, so that's when I was playing safe and trying to be in the best position, whereas the Morgana wasnt getting into safe positions, so whenever she went too close to Ez and Leona she was just getting killed each time, Ez had way too much damage level 1/2 which made the lane harder.

Regarding wards, on my first 2/3 backs if I have bought something I need, such as BF sword/vampiric sceptre and still have spare gold I buy wards. I bought 2 I believe in this game (not that many I know) but the lane was pretty much lost by about level 8. Not just Morganas fault, mine as well for not out trading Ez. But you know, you win some you lose some.

 

People have mentioned the laning phase.
The tips i'd give you about team fights is -
* Try communicate with your team to get someone to peel for you
* Sit back, Dont push too far forward thats when you'll get CC chained and punished.
* Not happy with your damage output? Try split push! I often find statikk shiv gets me out of the shit 9 times out of 10.
* Learn about other ADC's weaknesses. Obviously the biggest point is AA range.

Just a few pointers really. Your job is so much easier with someone you know as support.

 

Personally I don't think Lucian is the best "solo q" carry adc. I prefer Tristana/Jinx (depending on their team comp).

Jinx is my go-to AD Carry, personally have a ~67% winrate on her (32-16), and I have an abysmal ~17% winrate as Lucian (1-5). KDA's aren't too far apart either (3.6 for Jinx, 2.7 for Lucian)

Jinx's teamfight is amazing since she AOE rockets, with all or nothing crits. Zap for poke/siege, chompers for zoning, and an AOE execute ultimate. I go standard ADC build (BT > Statik/PD > LW) then go 4th item IE if I'm behind (and not getting assassinated), GA/Banshees if I'm ahead, or QSS>Merc if I need a cleanse. It's all about positioning and getting resets with Jinx, she does crazy amounts of damage and is a late game hypercarry. She does extremely well in lane with Thresh/Leona/Taric/Morg if your support can hit their binds (stack CC with chompers). I personally like getting chompers @ lvl 2 and telling my support to go all in.

Trist is pretty self explanatory as well, after she gets her core build she's an enormous threat with tons of self peel (W + R). E applies grievous wounds which is huge against an enemy Mundo/Renekton/Nasus. I still go standard ADC build on her, but almost always go IE as her 4th item.

One of the reasons I don't prefer Lucian is because his ultimate is very lackluster. It's good for clearing waves, but I feel as if Jinx does more DPS with aa rockets then Lucian does with his ultimate (although it is good at clearing waves). He also takes a longer to get going AKA less time to snowball (BT + TF = 7k gold, compared to BT + Statik = 5.7k gold) and is very mana intensive in lane if you want to win trades. Sending Jinx's Super Mega Deathrocket to another lane can also be very critical as well (Can't tell you how many "honors" I've gotten from teammates postgame from a well timed SMD early-mid game which won them the fight and got me a kill/assist)

At the start of the season i played Jinx mainly, about 16 games, then i found she got fairly boring, i played other champs etc. Now i feel that Lucian is a lot stronger (Personal preference i guess).

One of the reasons I don't enjoy playing Jinx that much anymore is that my performance on Jinx hasn't been as good as in S3.

Seeing the first picture you posted, based on 3/0/2 my only suggestion is you need more presence. Some games your team is just too bad and if you don't literally carry them, they will lose, regardless of you outlining / outplaying your laning opponent.

Here's a game that happened to me the other day [I'm a Plat IV elo player, this was on a Gold III account]:

My team was arguing, they were fighting, flaming each other and I had to keep them calm and help them to win the game, all alone.



To sum it up, looking at the pics you posted real quick, you need to have more presence and prevent your team from feeding, etc.

Work on your own mechanics, you can solo carry games even with bad teams.

• If your support makes a stupid play and you can see it's stupid, then don't go in. Don't try and "save" anybody else, it's their own fault for being caught out.
• Learn to harass and trade properly in your laning phases. Easier said than done.
• Positioning is one of the biggest things about playing adc, make note of it.
• For a lot of adc's you're at the mercy of your supp, You're the pokemon, they're the trainer, if they don't do anything it's hard for you to make a play. So play it safe and just don't try do things your own way.

 

Yeah, i know that feeling of people blamign it on the rest of the team. "It was my teams fault" says the 0/10/0 Ahri.

Thanks for the tips though. When i play supp/jungle that last tip just goes over my head sometimes, very rarely when i play ADC though. If my supp wants to get in a position which means i would die goign near them or trying to help them, i'll just let the enemy team take 1 kill not 2.
