Notification when quoted

I'd love to see an admin getting on this

Can this be added already? One of the best suggestions on this site yet to be approved. This would make production in activity much faster. It's too often that we would forgot about a thread we posted on, only later to see we've been quoted with no response given. I'm not going to subscribe to every thread that I post on, even then I wouldn't receive a "site" notification. I don't want my email spammed for such a trivial thing.

 

I remember this was suggested in the past with it being denied. I forgot the reason, but I honestly think this will be a very useful addition to the forum. Support.

 

It would be easy enough to implement or even just install a plugin premade. I know they exist. So many forums have them. It would be just a boost for activity and such.

I support this. Subscriptions and Quote Notifications are two completely different things.

When I quote Superman from the first page and my reply is on the fourth page, he won't actively know that I did so unless he happens upon my post in the thread where I quoted him or uses a search function. Quote Notifications would alert Superman that I quoted his reply from the first page with my post on the fourth page and take him directly to my post with said quote.

Subscriptions are where a user agrees to receive updates with or without email notifications and maintains a list of threads that they've subscribed to that shows when new post activity has been observed.

It would undoubtedly promote feedback and more active conversation among the board and community. If the issue that a plugin of this nature would be a hassle to implement in a board of this size, the site admin could possibly prune active forums and subforums and send them to the archives. After that, a backup of the archives could be made and moved to another public server so that implementation would become a smaller chore.

I can imagine if a staff member posts something like one of the 'welcome to the team' threads they'd want to toggle off their quote notifications there.

 

So wait why isnt this implemented? Been talking about it for ages and there doesnt seem to be any detriment.

It would increase activity a lot and help out the market goers.

Fully support. As long as there is an option to turn it off/on, I see no downside...aside maybe stress on the servers (?).

 

I'd also love to see it with an on/off option. The only problem I can see, is if implemented via inbox, they could fill up very quickly!

Support, not just quotes also thread replies etc a notification box like that would be brilliant!
