    Paypal Query

So I've sold GP to someone who doesn't have sythe but he was a friend I've known on RS for a while. He bought 100m 07 off me for $240. I told him to send me a picture of his ID with the name matching his paypal. He did but edited the picture out and it clearly shows the address and name. I also told him to send as gift. How safe is this for me? Or am I going to be expecting a nice email in a few days saying RIP bank account.

EDIT: the link to the picture was sent with the payment in the notes.

    Thanks. :noworry:

I think if they tell their bank/CC company it was fraud they can take the money back no matter what. Don't quote me on this though.

Correct. Without IP address verification, you can easily lose an unauthorized access dispute. He simply has to send it from a new IP address (using a proxy or simply a library computer). Basically, he could claim his wallet was stolen, so both his credit card and photo ID.

It's not any safe for you. Gift is even worse. It's just to evade fees, it doesnt make your payments any safer

To be honest if you even think its dodgy or smell everything you should turn away. A friend may be a friend but you need to draw the line somewhere, and you control the situation and so do not feel pushed to doing anything...

Rather than resorting to paypal you could chose other means of sending money. Very safe would have been to have used Western Union. Skrill is also an alternative, they are more open to the virtual items market.

As nick says, if they sent you the payment from other computer, they can charge back and win the dispute very easily, since they paid from other IP, if you sell gp, either use Western union, BTC or Bank transfer

Still all good at the moment, I'm sure he was on home computer tho as we was on skype together at time of trade + RS and he's not into black market stuff so wouldn't know to use a different IP. But this is the type of guy who would try go for unauthorized transactions on his own IP, Hopefully if he did this tho it would be declined.
