Was this a scam, or am I being presumptuous?

I got into a deal with a member here for an UC Neopet. Now before I go into any transaction, I look at who I'm buying from.

The seller had several vouches for both purchases and sales and appeared active on this site.

So we discussed payment. They wanted roughly $50, but could not accept paypal as a method of payment. Instead, they wanted foreign itunes card codes. At first, I was hesitant, but the sites looked reputable enough, and the seller encouraged me to think about it if I didn't feel comfortable.

I should have just said no then and there. But I'm an idiot and went through with the deal. I felt extremely safe, because the seller in question kept contact over the course of several hours (I was having trouble signing up for one of the sites, and eventually just went with one that was more a bit expensive), and helped me through every step. We also discussed how the UC and ETS would be transferred and to which accounts.

So at roughly 12:20 on 3/20 I get the codes sent to my email. I ask if the seller wants them in a PM or private email, and they reply that PM is fine. So I send the codes at 12:22 pm. The seller's last reported activity is at 12:25 pm that night.

It's now 3/22, 7:00 am, and the seller has yet to log back into Sythe and has not sent me the UC or ETS. I want to think that they haven't had a chance to get on yet, but . . .

Should I report them for a scam? Or should I wait it out a bit longer?

I'm already really upset to have lost a non-refundable $60, and if possible I still really want what I paid for. :-(

 

Have you asked him for a pm? Or you just talked on skype?

 

We talked exclusively through Sythe private messages (I don't have Skype). I have all of our conversation saved, though.

 

if i were you, i would wait a lil bit, maybe try to get in contact with him again, you'r chances are always higher if u haven't report him yet (i am not saying u shouldn't report him at all, just give it a lil bit more time)

 

Give it another day, the seller might be busy, but it is very poor customer service to accept payment and not give any confirmation nor respond in the course of 2 days. Hope it all ends well, and the seller is just a tad busy to respond, if not i would file a scam report.

 

Yeah, that seems like a good idea. I purposefully didn't post their name just in case I'm being too hasty. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt (you never know when someone's internet will go out, etc).

I guess I'm just worried because I never have been scammed before, and I don't really know how I would approach it.

Chances are I'm just overreacting.

 

Thank you. I think I'll give it a few more days. The last thing I want to do is get someone in trouble for something unintentional.

 

As said before, Give them some time. Though if it gets to a stage where its been a while with no response. Then you can pursue with a ban request, May encourage them! Hope you get this resolved!

 

Wait till he gets online again today. Check his last activity on his profile and if he seems to be ignoring you then report him and make sure to follow the stickies for the report a scammer section. Best of luck.

 

As everyone has said, allow him to come onliine today and sort this out. If he doesn't respond to you before days end, feel free to make a scam report.
