Whats the cheapest way to train mage?

What methods are there of training mage cheaply. I'm looking to get 70-94 as cheap as possible. Are there any alch items with small loss etc? or is superheating the best way?

alching you're always going to lose. Maple, yew, or magic longs are the best to alch.

I believe superheating you can actually make profit doing it. Only downside is that it isn't really afkabl.e

Alching is probably the cheapest.. There are things you can find with minimum loses but there not in high stock.. so you wouldn't be able to buy 100k of them to alch to 94.

Using the level 19 spell confuse im if correct, like 250k body runes untill level 94 magic using mud staff. ~30k xp per hour so takes a while.

If not making a loss is your main priority and you're willing to slow down experience for it, superheat Steel bars.

I always see magic as being a skill where no matter how cheap the current method of training is you'll always be looking at a loss. You can always make your own supplies though, I've seen people craft their own bracelets or fletch their own bows and come out making a profit.

I personally alched to 99 magic using RiD bots, and it's been over 7 months so far since I got 99 so I'm still really happy about not receiving a ban. If I was you I'd alch, just find the item that has the lowest cost per gp, it's not as hard as some people may think.

Teletabs + Mage Training Arena are quite profitable. Make house tabs and sell at cost or slightly above if you want to get rid of them quickly. XP/hr is probably awful though. Not sure about the MTA XP/hr rates but I think it's considerably less profitable than tabs.

    I've just started superheating, I'm making a 40GP loss per bar but from 70-99 it's 135k super heats so 135000 X 40 = 5.4M loss for 94 which is affordable :)

    What are you superheating currently?

OP: Another way to get mage up profitable, or very cheap, is fletching your own bows. If you want to wait that long, you can spend 1-2 weeks getting 99 fletching and then alch all your bows. You'll have made like 80-100k bows when you're finished i believe.
