New to League

I just recently started League and I slowly liking it to be honest.
I'm a DOTA2 transition to a League player. I know the basics of farming/last hitting etc. But the mechanics are really different in some part of the game.

Any tips on how to improve myself as to get ready for Ranked games? I just got to level 30 yesterday.
What I enjoy playing the most is top lane or ADC.

How to get ready to ranked games: Learn to control your anger.

If you can already do that, you're half way there haha.

Ranked has a lot of people bitching for just about anything. If you can keep your cool and try to control your team and keep them positive, it'll help a lot.

In-game tips, just don't be greedy and know when to trade. Don't try to get a few auto attacks off on the enemy adc if you're gonna get hit by their adc and the support in exchange. Trade smart. Cs > kills sometimes too.

I was only in gold 3 last season, so I'm sure if a someone in diamond or higher comments, they'll have better tips than I do.

I played Dota 2 semi-competitively. Like not really top tier but still somewhat that level. So I've met people who are really selfish in RANKED games and what not. In terms of attitude, I think I'm good to go. Only mechanics of games to be honest :D Cheers man

Thanks guys :D

And thanks Sellerman! Will do and will let you guys know about my progress :)

Also, any recommendation on which stream should I watch? I particularly want to improve my ADC and Top Lane gameplay as those are the ones I'm always playing.

Watch the OGN on twitch/LCS. Those Pro matches incorporate everything.

Look up the rosters for the Pro teams, and look up whos streaming on twitch, and you can see who for what role. 9/10 times they are playing their team role when they soloq.

instead of repeating "sellerman has summed it up lol gl!!" like most are doing, i'll give some actual advice.

A good streamer to watch when you're new is trick2g (www.twitch.tv/trick2g). Watch his subwars, he watches people play and points out mistakes they do. It'll help you avoid making those mistakes.

For LCS games go to the Fiss Mortune.BLACK channel on youtube; they post every LCS game that's cast in English. Watching LCS is good to learn how to improve your overall team performance, so it's good to watch a few games a week. Plus, they are always really entertaining.

However, LCS doesn't really help you learn independent laning mechanics because they tend to bounce between lanes, only focusing on the action. Watch a pro streamer on www.twitch.tv and clicking League of Legends--any on the recommended list are good to watch. For ADC I recommend watching phy because he actually commentates on what he is doing; a lot of streamers just play. It's good to watch from the actual desktop perspective of the player because you can pick up on a lot of things that you don't gain from the LCS.

Other than that, focus on learning the meta. I think it's a load of crap to say that "any champion can win any lane against any matchup and work with any team." If you keep trying to play a non-meta champion in lane, you'll find that the A-tier picks really are better. Even if you think Ashe is fun to play, she's not a good pick because she doesn't fit into the meta of what style of ADC is preferred.

The meta itself is really complicated, but in general:

1. Mobility is the most significantly overpowered statistic right now. Nearly every A-tier champion has a dash or mobility enhancement. Interestingly, to prove this point, one of the best-tier ADCs is Sivir, who theoretically should be the worst. Her base stats are hideously low; her attack range is the worst of all ADCs, and her ultimate does not improve her damage. However, mobility is so overpowered that her 40% movespeed buff on her ultimate makes her go from "really, really underwhelming" to "really, really overpowered."

Also, to help prove mobility's OP nature right now, look at the common bans. Almost all of them have ridiculously strong gap closers.
• Kassadin has the strongest "blink" in the game; he can blink across a fight for a huge range and the cooldown is only a few seconds
• Vi has a really long-range dash and an ultimate that is also a dash
• Wukong has a dash
• Leblanc has spell that can count as a double-blink
• Pantheon has a dash and his ultimate allows him to basically teleport

2. Tankiness is cheaper to buy than pure damage. Of course, this is only assuming an "even trade" where noone is avoiding the damage by juking skillshots or remaining out of range. As an ADC main, pure damage is obviously preferred because you are expected to avoid taking damage. As a top lane melee, however, you should generally stick to only one or two damage items.

Hey buddy. Haven't seen you around in a long time, welcome back. I'll second Austin's tip on watching Trick2g, and I'd like to share this website:

http://www.leagueoflegendsstreams.com/home/stream

It's a list of the currently online-and-running streams, the streamer's league (their ranking), and the amount of viewers they have. I suggest you watch TSM Nightblue, Chaox, etc. Usually the top viewed streams are the best to watch.

Definitely. He gives great tips, everything he does he gives an explanation. I personally am not his biggest fan he talks way too much lol, maybe that's why I like dyrus.

Here's his stream address: http://www.twitch.tv/nightblue3

I'll list some streamers that are pretty informative (IMO), feel free to check them out:

Voyboy - Mid, he doesn't stream often, but gives great tips : http://www.twitch.tv/voyboy
Oddone - jungle. http://www.twitch.tv/tsm_theoddone
Geranimo - AD - http://www.twitch.tv/lolgeranimo

And of course as i said above, trick2g for overall information.
