Stop deleting spam posts so fast

I get infracted and the post is gone in minutes. How do you expect someone to learn from their mistakes if they can't see their mistake.

 

Usually people either know what they did wrong or send the moderator that issued them an infraction a polite private message. If not, a thread is usually closed with a post from a moderator. Also, infractions should show the rule broken - people tend to review that rule in the Sythe.org Official Rules thread.

For moderators, there's also an built-in messaging feature when infracting someone. Although it's not often used since spam reports are cleared by the hundreds, it does allow us to explain what a user did wrong in a message.

Just to add to this, if the mod doesn't leave you a message, PM them asking which post they infracted you for.

 

Every post I report is blatant spam. If you don't know how that post was spam, well then you're just not too bright.

 

different communities have a very definition of spam.

As a bit of a near extreme example, Korean communities are very lenient on the definition and it's often acceptable to write a simple "lol" or "okay" as an answer.

Post are reported when it's against the rules. Very often they're deleted, you get banned after you get 5+ infractions (every of them expire after month) so you learn on mistakes. If you dont want to make mistakes read rules and stickies carefully, if you'll do so you'll know what should you post and what not. If posts werent removed and mods waited for your edit it'd be total anarchy and same post would be reported multiple times. If you dont know what did you do wrong just PM mod who gave you infraction about it, they can see deleted posts

 

You people know that if you infract a post and then delete it, the infraction is marked as private in the infraction log and the person has no idea what post it was for? Seems like what this guy is complaining about.

 

i sent the staff member a message as soon as i notice that i was infracted. but the post was already deleted. They have been on since the message was sent and have had no reply.

make things easier on everyone and not delete the post seconds after the infraction is given. most people aren't on at the time the infraction is given. or set up some automated thing to send a pm to the user quoting the post saying that it has been infracted and removed.

 

If you would prefer, we could quote the post and state why it was removed. It will be more work, but it can be done.
