I'm quite open to all the subgenres of metal, though I dislike metalcore, I just can't stand the style of singing and I find it boring. I'm quite into my doom metal at the moment.

Been listening to: Sleep, Summoning, Nokturnal Mortum, Electric Wizard

well everyone knows first wave black metal and blackened trash are the greatest metal genres. i like NWBM too but not really any atmospheric stuff outside of europe (or even post 90's) except for weakling maybe.

tech death and blackened melodeath comes next although i think gorguts - obscura is probably the best metal album ever (even above first wave BM stuff). cryptopsy and demilich are great too... and necrophagist for more melodic stuff and dissection for less techy and more blacked melodeath

then doom is third place with earth 2 special low frequency version of course... and elder - dead roots stirring and stuff from Om and maybe some boris stuff is pretty good too but not really up to the same level as earth

You sir know your stuff. Im not much for melodic anything or tye techy stuff. But first wave black metal and doom are very important assets to my music collection. As far as black metal goes im down for the count...

Grishnackh that is. Burzum is by far my favorite. I really like stoner doom and southern doom as well. Get down on some droney stuff too time to time.

I used to not really like anything melodic and techy either to be honest. Only in this past year i started to get into that kind of stuff.

Varg was a favourite for a long time and basically got me into black metal from listening to filosfem and i still love that album. I personally dont think his post prison metal stuff is great (apart from belus), though.

Stoner doom is great too. You should check out Elder if you don't already know them.

I dont care for vargs later stuff either. And will do on Elder, I dont have many metal head friends locally anymore and Ive delved headfirst into other genres recently so new bands are few and far between for me and metal.
