I'm new on photoshop and I tried to do my own thread layout, check it:

It is a ton better than my first attempt at photoshop. Great first try

 

It's definitely not bad for someone new to photoshop. My only problems with it is the stock flares being very low quality. Same with the skype button, you can actually see the grain in the background color.

 

Good job ive been designing for a while and that is the best one ive seen so far for a starter. same thing as ghast said maybe find some flares that are higher quality and for the skype button i would say the same thing aswell. im willing to send you a gfx pack that i created. pm me.
