    Should I stream?

I've been told I have a pretty good knowledge of the game and am great at teaching others. I'm only plat, but I DO blame lag for quite a bit. I started last August and I've never played a NA game with under 180-220 ping.

On Korean servers, I compete at a low gold level. If you've ever played Korean servers, you're aware that the scale isn't the same.

I'll be building a nice PC and money isn't a problem for the software. Should I make videos? I'd be teaching champs that I play well and often, streaming or YT'ing ranked games as well as going over my plays, what I did right, wrong and what the best move is.

For anyone that streams, how does the $ work as far as twitch and YT views/subs?

EDIT - to clarify, i will be streaming with new pc at low ping when i'm stationed in the states.

You won't get popular enough to make any cash for the first 6-8 months so don't quit your day job but best of luck to you! Just got to be better than the professionals who already do this sort of thing, and not sure anyone would want to watch a laggy stream or youtube videos :/

It's based on per 1,000 views for YT, although this isn't fully accurate due to adblock. Twitch, you will get revenue from the ads but i'm not sure how it will work out, maybe similar to Youtube.

With Twitch there is the subscriber button, although to attain this you need roughly 500~ concurrent viewers over a period of time then you can apply for a partnership. Just don't get your hopes up of getting a lot of viewers (especially at first) as it would take a while to start earning any/good revenue.

If you lagg, and if you;re consistently playing with 180 ping (without streaming): then dont stream.
You have to perform well, and people mostly tune in to see one play good, unless there is some other reason such as being very entertaining.

Secondly, dont stream if you do it for the money, you wont get big enough in terms of viewers if you do it for the money, do it for the passion of streaming, then you might be that one lucky guy who will get alot of viewers, but right now theres ALOT of stramers and you see for yourself, theyre at 1-10 viewers, some peak on their lucky days at 30.

Anyways; good luck to you, i do advice you to get diamond first, and fix you internet problems before considering streaming.

After you get the new computer you could consider it. You have to be entertaining though, and bring something unique to the table.

    Should I stream?

Well, you need to ask yourself, do you WANT to stream? Will you have time for it? Will you enjoy it? Can you take criticism? Not that you'll start with many viewers but if you grow there's gonna be more good people and more criticising people.

Regarding money. If you get 500 views per day for whatever amount of time you can get subscriber option, people sub $5, you get half, twitch gets half, they get to talk in sub mode and cool emotes. You can also run ads and make money from them like youtube. But don't expect that any time soon unless you're extremely unique.

    Should I stream?

I believe ping has to do with internet connection, not your computer.

If you're lagging while not streaming... I wouldn't suggest it.

But as others said, do it for the passion not money because odds are stacked against you that you'll get big and make money. But if it's something you actually would want to do, then go for it. Good luck.

    Should I stream?

Well, it could even take a year or so to make any money. No one wants to watch poor quality streams, whether it being laggy net or med/low graphic settings. Most streamers are set on the highest graphics settings in game and/or HD quality.

Subscription button requirements for Twitch Partners vary based on a number of factors, including concurrent viewers, hours watched, and region. You must first be a Twitch Partner before you can apply for a Subscribe button. If you are a partner, you can apply for a Sub button by sending a request to [email protected].

“We are dedicated to connecting people around the games they love, and this is one more piece of that puzzle. For viewers, the Partner Program helps ensure a high volume of high-quality content from the world’s best players.” ~Emmett Shear, co-founder and CTO of Justin.tv

You don't have to love to stream but you certainly must LOVE the game, LOVE gaming and LOVE talking about it while you're streaming. It helps tremendously that you play with your viewers as well as interacting with your viewers in chat. Everyone is always looking for someone to game with, for most games.

Keep these factors in mind if you're planning on streaming on Twitch and going anywhere with it:

TwitchTV Partner Program Features and Benefits

Revenue sharing - Partners earn advertising revenue generated on their channels, to be paid out on a monthly basis. Twitch.tv handles the ad selling and serving.
Automatic transcoding - Viewers will be able to switch between 240/360/480/720p/Best quality options on partner channels. This means partners can broadcast in high quality without leaving out fans with poor Internet connections.
Early access to new features - TwitchTV is constantly building new features based on feedback from partners and the greater TwitchTV community. Partners get early insight into these features and are usually the first to try them out.

    Partner Program Requirements

The TwitchTV Partner Program is open to all aspiring qualified broadcasters via an application process. Broadcasters that meet the below criteria, and who are interested in becoming part of the TwitchTV Partner Program, are encouraged to apply at http://twitch.tv/partner/signup.

To qualify as a TwitchTV Partner, you must meet ALL of the following requirements:

    1. Minimum concurrent viewers average: 500
    2. AND Minimum channel views number: 300,000
    3. AND Minimum followers: 1,000

Or, meet ANY of the following requirements:

    1. Minimum concurrent viewers average: 1,000
    2. Minimum channel views number: 800,000
    3. Minimum followers: 4,000

I wish you the best of luck. Have fun gaming.

    Should I stream?

    No problem.

I forgot to mention, for newcomers to live-streaming & considering to become Twitch partners, they need to meet the following criteria with regard to pre-recorded video game content (using YouTube as an example):

    1. 25,000 subscribers
    2. Average 15,000 views per video

    Should I stream?

    put it this way:
if your stream isn't 100% HD quality and absolutely no lag then yes stream. if not, no.

not even decent quality, because personally i wouldn't watch anything that's not 100% HD.

Well, if that's going to be the case, then I don't see why you shouldn't stream. If you're thinking about streaming on Twitch though, consider what I stated earlier.

    S noobies

    Should I stream?

Go for it. However, I'll be blunt.

Unless you manage to become quite famous and become a known personality, it's going to be extremely hard to retain, even get viewers due to the level of game play you are at.

    Should I stream?

"Good" streamers (AKA streamers who have a dedicated followership) have one of two things going for them:

    • They are diamond-level and have strong play-making skills (instead of passive players)
    • They have tits

The "semi-pro" tier of streamers can be considered the streamers for lolking, gameguyz, etc. These are usually high plat through diamond.

To be honest I don't think you will get many viewers, but stream because you want to, not because the amount of people who are watching.
