Is it safe to kennel a dog in a bathtub?

My dog is experiencing incontinence and diarrhea, but I've got classes and work so as much as I'd like to, I can't stay home all day to take her out as often as she needs to. Similarly, I can't leave her out of the kennel because my apartment is carpeted and cleaning it will become too expensive before her illness passes. Therefore, I was wondering if it's safe to kennel a dog in a bath tub. I figure that way, it's easiest to clean up, I can bathe her if she gets dirty, and she has more room to move about than if she were in her actual kennel.

She's still young, 7 months old, and I'm only ever gone for two hours at a time, three hours for my longer shift MAXIMUM. I figure it'd be common sense whether it's safe or not, there's the obvious dangers such as the facet, the soaps and the drain.. but there's plenty of room for her to avoid the facet, I'll remove my soaps, and the drain should be small enough that she won't trap her foot in there, it has a grate inside anyway, so she wouldn't actually be able to get stuck... so idk.. let me know

 

What happens if she does shit? She'll be sat in her own shit for up to 3 hours max?

 

She'll have to in her kennel anyway, the bathtub at least has more room for her to sit elsewhere if she shits

There's obviously no easy or perfectly humane way to address this. If I had a yard, I would let her roam around the yard while I'm gone, but I'm in an apartment so that's not possible.

 

Put that bitch in the tub. She be alright. Lol jk. But it probably wont hurt her. Maybe consider wrapping a wash rag or something around the faucet with a rubber band or tape so she don't get hurt on it. And make sure to rinse everything good because any soap residue or anything could make her sick if she licks it. Other than that just throw in a toy and she should be alright. 3 hours isn't too long. Asking ss shes as small dog that is. Not over like 30 pounds or so.

 

She's like 35-40 lbs, she's an aussie shepherd so she's a smaller-medium sized breed, and still young...

I think I'll give it a try then, I'll pad the facet and scrub the tub too so she should be safe... I hope my shower curtain doesn't fall and she shreds it, but I'd rather replace a $5 shower curtain than pay $100+ to shampoo a carpet

 

Take the shower curtain out too..lol but you should be fine.

 

My dog still gets put in his crate when Im out and he's 2 and 35kilos. And a bath is probably bigger to your pup than the crate is to him. I used to have to bath mine every morning cause he was covered in shit so you're just cutting out the awkward lift to the bathroom by putting her in there

She'll be good for a few hours for sure.

Well, seems I didn't need to worry about it, she shat a solid turd the next morning, and hasn't had an accident yet, so hopefully it'll pass. I still need to pick up some tetracycline for her urinary infection though before it starts to turn harmful
