    Account Recovery

I'm looking to buy a RS07 account soon but I'm wondering if accounts are still easily recoverable after being sold. Is that the case?

Original Owners can ALWAYS recover accounts back. Purchase accounts from trusted members only to reduce the risks of having the account recovered back.

very easy to recover, even if there has never been jag on the account etc, he can easily recover just by providing the ip.

Accounts are always recoverable and recovers are IP / area based.

Jagex is not that dumb, anyone could provide IP. Recovery has to be performed from this IP, telling IP is not enough to recover.

Ah, alright - thanks for the answers. I naïvely assumed that the introduction of accounts linked to emails would make a difference in original owners successfully recovering sold accounts.

Edit: There really ought to be some sort of a rep system for helping others out in threads like these!

that was what i was trying to imply.

and if the info is changed he would need to do a email recovery to get access to the manual recovery page, in either way he would actually need to provide the ip.

If I am the original owner of an account and someone else has set their JAG/Recoveries/Email on it I will still be able to recover it, you dont need the IP either.

All I did to recovery my account after I had moved was provide them with another accounts name and said it was created on the same IP as the account that was lost, 2 hours later and boom password recovery was accepted. I had no recovery information at all and provided them with nothing but a different account name.

I think you can gather that any account can be recovered from original owner. Only buy from trusted users or users you think won't recover but that is impossible to tell.

You were lucky then. I couldn't recover my own account on school IP (300metres from me ?) with the oldest info + transaction IDs. Most of recovers (especially for bought accounts) get denied automaticly because of the most used IP / creation IP being different than this one which is used for recovery

Accounts can always be recovered by the original owner, even if the buyer has set the JAG, registered email, recovery questions, and PIN.

To be fair though I did email them from the accounts registered email, "the email no longer receives emails but I'm able to send emails" and that probably helped a lot.

Accounts can always be recovered by the original owner, even if you change the information to your own. (email/jag/recoveries).

It's quite obvious who's trusted on here, and who isn't, so make sure you pick the right person to do the trade with.

Meh I wouldn't trust anyone, doesn't matter how trusted they seem to be even the most trusted member can turn sour and decide to scam later on and I'm sure it has happened before.

If you are the original owner it is possible to recover, you just have to trust the seller really.

My main problem with buying accounts is:

Even if you purchase from a trusted user - that user can still recover the account 12 months later with pretty much no chance whatsoever of getting banned.

How do you prove an account was recovered? You cannot. It's then your word against theirs and with them being a trusted user - you have no chance.
