Thoughts On VelKoz

I love his Q mechanics, Can do some decent poke around minions.
His ult is really fun, Though VK in general is pretty immobile.

 

I agree one of the most worthless new release champs. Ive played him and played against him in low Diamond and just... wow...

 

Played with and Vs him around 10 times over the past two days. He seems ok to me. Doesn't seem too strong, or too weak.

 

its just that he doesnt truely bring anything to late game

 

nothing except his 1500 dmg laser (excluding true dmg stacks)

 

He's fun, but I find using his abilities to nuke farm is a pain in the ass -_-

I think something can be said about his Cho'Gath-esque knockup that can really be a strong tool with chain-CCing an enemy. If they get Leona stunned, a savvy VK can throw in a knockup for another bit of CC. This can't be blocked by tanks, so in the current meta of dive-CCers (Wukong, Leona, Thresh, etc) this chain-CC works really well.

Not many mid-laners have a ground-target CC spell; most of the mid laners with noteworthy CC have them as skill shots (Ahri's charm, Brand's stun, Xerath's stun, Morgana's snare, Lux's snare). The only ground-target CC spells from midlaners, off the top of my head, are Annie's overpowered Tibbers and Gragas's overpowered ultimate knockback. I agree that the channel on VK's knockup sets it apart from these, but remember it's just an ordinary spell and not an ultimate.

The laning utility of this particular spell is hard to give justice to, as well. Against other high-CC mids, you can play safe just standing behind your minion wave. While being easy-ish to dodge, it's still more unpredictable than the Morgana stun that is obviously going to happen once she steps to the side of the lane. It's really nice to set up ganks with a VK chain of crowd control, as well. The current meta has only a small amount of lockdown from junglers (sans ult, Lee Sin has only a moderately good slow; Wukong has nothing; Elise only has one snare; Pantheon has a decent stun), so adding in some more CC is even more devastating.

Shit. If you use your ult you cant even walk... Thats really shit

 

I dont like him no mobility and I hate using champs with no mobility.

 

I played with him once and against him once. Never in lane however. His ult seems to do a lot of damage and the WW jungle combo with him really hurts.

However with Lucian I caught him out of position in a siege and 2 shot him.

 

Well basically, i had a WW jungle and Mid Velkoz, Both ults one shot any high priority target.. gg

The concept is good, but the few Vel's I saw (only when he was very fresh) were unreasonably bad. He seems like a champ that should be relatively easy to play. I cannot wait to try him out, nonetheless, even though I was unimpressed by the Vel players I played against.
