Thoughts On VelKoz

Tittle pretty much says it all I would just like to know people's opinions on the new champion release!

My personal opinion I think Vel is pretty badass almost too badass.

 

Well basically, i had a WW jungle and Mid Velkoz, Both ults one shot any high priority target.. gg

Hes terrible, normally i make sure i do not judge a champion to soon because certain champs take time, but ive seen him 3 times tonight in Mid to high diamond and it was the most worthless champion....Not only were his abilitys un-reliable and rarely could even land but when they did connect it was lackluster, add that all together with the fact he has zero mobility i am having a problem finding 1 thing thats good about him

 

I played with him once and against him once. Never in lane however. His ult seems to do a lot of damage and the WW jungle combo with him really hurts.

However with Lucian I caught him out of position in a siege and 2 shot him.

Also we did a 1v1 at one point and he hit his knockup and I got 1 hit.

 

Less mobile Syndra/Xerath combo.
Counter him with Soraka mid (no joke). The silence shuts his ult down.

 

Vel'Koz's death ray is downright nasty. He's pretty beastly. I love him so far.

 

Other than his ultimate, he's trash.

 

That's nothing to do with the champion, that's more the player.

He's op if you farm enough, get gold and a good build, easy carry. Nerfs pls

 

yeah hes good in farming but hes OK , not as good as I thought tbh

 

I think he's actually pretty balanced, not in need of either buffs or nerfs (buffs if anything). Anything with a silence utterly destroys him, and the fact that his ult can be interrupted keeps it from being OP - but he also has his niche lanes to win, keeping him from being underpowered. I'd say he's the most balanced champion released in quite a while.

 

I have to agree. He has some good utility that he can offer to a teamfight (slows, knockups) and his nuke is actually really hard to land. His range and/or channel time on his abilities makes it so VelKoz actually is pretty hard to be overpowered.

On another note, his mana costs are tiny as hell. That's one thing that definitely needs to be nerfed.

 

His mana costs really need to be increased. I'm not a fan of him personally, it's easy to dodge all his burst. Good pushing power and farming, and offers some control in team fights I guess.

 

Seems stronk, like AP kog but more damage less build up time.

 

I dont like him.
IMO, better off picking any other top tier apc, and carry>him.

 

Have you ever played raka top? you could shut down almost everyone in low elo.

Anyway, if some people think he's badass atm, then he's beyond op. Ask Lucian.

 

he reminds me of brand. all the burst damage!

 

Lucian was only good after his release because of a few reasons:

1) His ultimate is incredibly underwhelming.
2) His short range makes him mediocre in a teamfight.

The meta, however, has shifted towards a high-strength laning phase, and Lucian's double shot makes him a really strong pick. Also, the meta is favoring champions with a dash and movespeed bonuses, both of which Lucian has. Finally, strong seige compositions seem to work well in the meta, and Lucian's long range and ability to kill a whole wave with 2 spells allows him to shine, as well.


Towards the end of season 3, the meta was favoring more utility-based ADCs like Ezreal and Corki. These are both really strong counters to Lucian (he ults? let's just use our giant dash to get to safety).

 

You need to play him in the perfect game and full channel ults into Multi people for him to feel even somewhat useful....still to early to say but i am thinking hes gonna be Mid tier at best
