I did not put the video card or PSU because I have the video card and as for the PSU I estimating the cost at $150.

Currently Im over my budget of $1500, but is there anything I could lower.

Also what PSU would be work well with this build.

ehh waste of money on that tower imo, and you should grab an i7 4400k with the money you save off tower :0

Also I'm not going to overclock so the k series would be useless and I'm only going to game with a bit of school homework like research papers so wouldn't an i5 be better.

Yes it would Verte, you are fine with what you have... My only question is why are you running a 780ti if you're only going to game with it a bit and a (almost $200) motherboard?

You could cut your costs exponentially just by removing those two factors - unless I misunderstood your original statement on the graphics card...

You may not believe this, but I actually have a earlier build with two 780Ti this 2nd one is not selling at all so I decided to use it in another build. So I already have this card, but I'm calculating as if I had to buy it because a friend of mine wants me to build a computer for him and I'm giving an exceptionally good deal on the graphic card. Sorry if I didn't mention this before, but I do actually own this card currently. As for the motherboard, what do you recommend for a cheaper one. Maybe an AsRock Extreme 6 or something.

I would believe it. Haha. That makes sense though if you're giving him a discount as well, that's a really nice one!

Anyways, two different ASRock boards I might recommend:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157460

Yes, the Extreme 6 also works as well... HOWEVER, my purchasing thought on it would be buy the Open Boxed version of it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157371R

And hope that it comes with the box... That way you can apply for the $10 MIR as well. :)

Just out of curiosity, was the case something that your friend chose out in this case or something you recommended/have? I personally would go with a Fractal Design XL R2 or NZXT H630 if you want full-tower... But that is me as I have found lighting to become obnoxious and cases to tend to get loud.

Thanks for the motherboards and as for the case I chose it because he wants a mid-tower. If I had my choice on a full-tower I would recommend him the same one I have which is the HAF X.

Also he wanted a *cool* looking one. Which I would rather have one that cools better and is quiet than something that looks good, but its his computer so I got him what he wanted that still can cool things here and there.

I'd rather have a great computer than a "cool" case, not like you're going to look at the case all day most likely you'll look at the monitor...

Ya I rather have a computer that can stay cool which is why I love the HAF X.

If you aren't overclocking you don't need a $200 mobo.

I have a rather similar pc to what you are looking at, with the exeption of the GPU (GTX660 here) and a few brands.
I can assure you you don't need that many cooling slots in that case.
If you are really that paranoid about cooling issues, I'd say hook all your external fans up to a fan controlling unit, and just track the temperature for a week or so while doing all different kinds of stresstests on your pc.

And with this money you save off the case (normal coolermaster cases are abouts 50-100 bucks, you can use that money on a SSD drive alongside your HDD.
And like SuF said, you don't need that motherboard to be that expensive. If you want your build to be below 1500, pick a cheaper mobo.
