    Personal Progress Thread (Suggestions Welcome)

No longer updating this as I feel I should record my progression from a fresh account without an inherited MMR from season 3. I might make a new thread for another account, I might not. But thanks for all the suggestions I will be focusing on CSing and dying less in order to improve!

Last season I ended silver V with a bronze V MMR, I can play better and I will so I'm making a log of my games in order to get suggestions on how to improve, and the end goal is to climb my way out of bronze, silver, gold, platinum and reach diamond, but I'd be happy with high gold. Not gonna have all my games in a daily format because I don't play a bunch every day so it will be all of my games of a certain week.

Current Division: Bronze V (Terrible placement games, 9/1)

Here's my LolKing "Ranked Stats" of season 4 updated 01/03/2014:

    Gameplay related info:
I don't flame, if someone is trolling I mute them
I play mid or supp as main, previously top.
I usually play Akali or Alistar.
I'm aware I CS really bad, usually the fights end up happening really early so I can't farm as I'm forced to fight, but yeah I know my CS is bad.

Suggestions are welcome and I'll update each week with my games and you can see if I've improved from your suggestions.

Also, should I focus purely on my own stats and wellbeing or force myself to help my team mates even if I die?

Try lulu, thresh and leona as support. Super strong, can carry botlanes super hard, and have a great kite/peel/cc kit for all comps.

I've started playing nidalee mid again as I used to in season 3, and I just went 19/8/24 with about 120cs. I find nidalee easier to get minions with but I admit I missed so many that I could of got.

This isn't a hate comment but it looks like your deaths per game is quite high, try to play safer in a game so that you don't get as many deaths, even if it means your kills aren't as high. Could potentially help you with getting wins as the enemy team won't be as fed.

But as Sellerman said, try support champs such as Leona, a solid pick as she has a lot of CC which helps with being able to your ADC kills.

But on another note, good luck with your road to diamond!

Looks like your best at support, I would try to keep up with that and grow your champion pool. Also, no offense, but champions like Riven/Yasuo/Vayne in my opinon should never be played in low elo, same goes for nasus. They just require too many mechanics and/or the ability to last hit strongly. And once again im not trying to offend anyone but if you're in bronze you probably dont posses the skill to use them to their full potential.

You say Nasus... In bronze so many people ban him because they're too stupid to realise you need to stop him from farming with Q as much as possible, yet everyone is so scared to play against him. But champions like Vayne I completely agree with, I love playing Lucian (I'm silver v) and everyone uses Vayne to counter me, rarely works, too many of them aren't good enough.

People in low games don't close out games properly, either play snowballers, (like riven, just need to improve it)

or play late game scalers like nasus, ryze etc. Free games.

Yeah, I think my death awareness has grown over the past few months but my main problem is is that if I die a few times too many I get demotivated so then I end up dying more and more even though I don't want to. I agree I need to play safer and I will try and work on this in my next few games. I try and aim to die a maximum of 5 times depending on my kills.

I started with a good win loss ratio with alistar but for some reason I can't seem to win a game with him lately.
But as for riven, I definitely can't play her to her full potential but I can be good enough to help carry a game and to win a game if I focus on not dying and who I'm up against. I will probably practice more, but I've stopped using yasuo lately. Only when I can guarantee who my matchup is going to be and if I'm feeling confident.

Offtopic but I had a nasus on my team the other day and he didnt farm stacks at all and went like 18/6, it was so funny because my team was originally raging at him and then he carried us.

    I'll keep practicing riven, thanks.

Only played about 4 games this week, I'll play some more and post them on saturday for the whole week, tell me what you think then,

Not bad, always love q'ing with a support main. tanky supports that know their role and know their opponents and matchups are just super helpful. I'd play more leona games though, she's just too broken to ignore.

My next buys will definitely be leona and thresh, might get leona now actually but I've been trying my best to steer away from support as much as I can, I've been trying akali mid and its been going extremely well so far.

As a support main, my advice is don't play Alistar. His CC is good, but his damage is pitiful and he is the most item-dependent support there is. In lane, Alistar gets out-traded by most other supports. His healing is definitely really nice, but his ability to be aggressive is minimal because he relies too much on his opponents for making mistakes. Also, his healing is a double-edged sword: it is really low cooldown and has a good ratio, but you also heal minions so an Alistar lane almost always stays pushed. In bronze, your ADC will have literally zero map awareness and will not understand the mechanics of farming under the enemy tower.... so Alistar's heal eventually can mean your ADC having a bad time in lane.

Alistar's only saving grace is that the damage reduction on his ultimate is brokenly strong. Having an Alistar diving towers is scary business. But, in bronze, don't rely on your team to follow up on a tower dive.

More reliable supports who fill the same role (hella agressive OP in-your-face tank) are Leona and Thresh. People have been mentioning this, but it's at least my $0.02. In bronze the best carry supports are Leona and Annie, since both can do a lot more aggressive actions on-the-fly. Leona and Annie are excellent at capitalizing immediately on the enemy being out of position or making a mistake. Thresh's kit is stronger in very high ELO because people make fewer mistakes, and his teamfight presence is a bit more impactful. All three (Thresh, Leona, Annie) are currentl god-tier, with IMO Lulu being the honorable mention.

My last word of advice is not about the champion picks. Champion picks do not win the game, they just make your laning phase easier or harder. The best advice for a bronze player is to focus on what you do to get ahead. Rate yourself after each game, based on what your priorities are in the role. For example, as Akali mid:

(questions are in order of most important to least)
    1. How often did I execute the enemy carry (and not their tank or jungler) during a teamfight?
    2. How many times did I get to roam bottom lane to gank during the laning phase?
    3. How is my CS? Was I able to get at least 60 CS per 10 minutes?
    4. Did I shut down my laning opponent?

Obviously a million more things go into an Akali game, but you need to understand your role with the team. Performing that role is utmost important, and Akali's two big roles are (A) killing the carry before a fight can really progress fully, and (B) using her strong roaming ability to gank bottom lane and help them get ahead. Farming is the priority for every laner except the support, and the rule of thumb for a solo lane is that you need 60-80 farm every 10 minutes.

Another example would be Nasus. His early game is almost worthless, and a good team will know this, so don't feel obligated to make humongous plays early on.
    1. Once I had enough Q farm, did I actually use it to push towers and/or force teamfights?
    2. How much Q was I able to stack up?
    3. How well did I avoid letting my enemy laner get ahead?
    4. When a teamfight happened, how well did I perform my role as the tanky DPS distractor?

Unlike Akali, Nasus's whole job is to sit top for at least 20 minutes and just Q farm. Once he is huge and does unstoppable damage (100 Q farm per 10 minutes is minimal to keep up with the game), his job should then be to just juggernaut through the map. He basically just walks into an entire team, pops his ult for the AOE heal effect, and Q's the fuck out of everything. (Obviously a Nasus player should do this at the right moments, though.) If you aren't using Nasus's Q damage to take down towers, you're not using Nasus correctly. One of my pet peeves of a Nasus is when he gets past the magical 500 Q mark, is already level 16+, and is still camping top lane instead of forcing Baron or taking down a tower with the whole team.

    gg

I agree that I don't think Alistar is something that I should be playing too often as support, but I just seem to be getting "lucky" and not doing really bad, but my only other supports are nidalee, soraka and annie, which I don't know well enough to play and don't particularly want to, but I've been steering more into mid lane lately, so hopefully I won't need to play support much.

I have been playing akali for the last 3 days and I believe I can carry myself out of a few tiers with her, I'm on a 100% win rate with her so far and aim to continue, what do you think of my progress as of right now?

I plan on playing at least double what I've already played before updating my weekly matches on saturday, and if I win them all I will be bronze 4.

    Thanks
