Yes.. most of the current staff team would not want to do so to uphold their position IMO, or don't have the knowledge to. I know if CDT was made a requirement rather than an option when I was a sectional I wouldn't want to be on staff. So, then how does one replace a staff team who no longer do what's required? Getting a pool for candidates isn't easy these days.

At the end of the day, the amount of replies on this thread speaks for the idea really.

 

It has never been easy to get candidates. Nothing has really changed in that regards besides perhaps many good members being banned for little to no reason. CDT is also something completely different.

I also do not see why it matters if the current staff team doesn't want to work for the good of the site. It is just replacing one activity system for another. If the staff are as lazy and incompetent as you are making them out to be, they should not be staff. It's that plain and simple.

I also would like to say that replies really mean jack shit. I didn't even bother giving the thread a name because all I was suggesting was a beyond obvious sticky. None of the stickies in the section currently are worth anything, really.

It speaks volumes that the staff can not even accomplish making and sticking a thread.

 

It's additional responsibility alongside actual moderation. Good members don't end up banned either.

I did not say they were lazy or incompetent, I was merely saying I wouldn't force additional responsibility on top of moderation as a requirement to remain on staff. Unhappy staff ergo poor activity.

It's my opinion that things like Steam groups shouldn't all be down to staff. If there was any interest in a Sythe Steam group then this would've been requested or started up without staff involvement. And if you're so bothered about us having one, then go ahead.

 

What is so wrong with additional responsibility? It's not as if the current requirements are all that hard to meet. What is so wrong with having much more fluid requirements that allow people to do the work that they enjoy doing while putting off the work that they do not? If you simply alter the bar by which you are judging the staff, they become lazy and incompetent. It's clear that different people have different bars and simply viewing the problem from another perspective shows you a whole new situation.

The staff have much more influence than you know. The IRC used to be so popular back in the day because the staff would all hang out in it and people would want to come and talk. It's not a coincidence that the IRC died after the staff started talking in that Skype group. It's also not a coincidence that when I tried to get an IRC active again and only one or two staff members ever joined that it failed to gain any traction.

You act like making a sticky is something that requires loads of debate. It shouldn't even involve an admin or even a global. The move away from sectionals and towards going "_______ has been super active. He deserves global!" is just asinine. No one deserves a rank. They earn a rank. They get the rank for being the right fit for the rank. But that's something that is lost on the staff team and has been for a long time.

I understand that it is your opinion that the staff should be mod-log drones but you should understand that a lot of people disagree with you. They are all gone, of course, because the mod-log lovers forced them all out.

It falls off way too quickly with all the other people trying to sell their stuff and all the new CSGO threads people are spamming about.
