How do you people not know her... she was in X-Men 3 (2006) and Inception (2010).

I was a little shocked. Coming out at 26... that's a long wait.

 

Good for her, really liking the steps forward that society is taking regarding this.

 

Ellen Page was from Juno also. She was my lady crush when I first saw her in X-men. I feel that the reason why she announced it at such a late-ish age is because of how it'll affect her lifestyle and publicity. Seeing that there are people that frown upon 'gays' would make more sense that she waited this long. Im just glad that she found the courage to publicly come out :laugh:

 

I'm tired of people being praised for coming out. Your sexuality shouldn't be a big deal at all.

I thought she was a lesbian this entire time, so it was more news to me that she came out because I thought she already was out.

 

In other, breaking news: water is wet.

It's things like this that make being gay a performance. Who cares? Be gay. It's not a big deal. It's the "good on you" and et cetera that turns it in to an abnormality which just does more bad than good.

 

I haven't seen either of those movies, and I had no idea who she was.

I stopped watching a little bit in. What she's saying is nothing that hasn't been said before, and it is being turned in to more drama just because she's an actress.

 

I agree. It's like when you see those local news stories about the guy in the wheelchair that participates in a marathon or something and you're like 'Damn that guy is inspiring'. Why is it inspiring? Because that dudes in a fucking wheelchair. Being like 'Awh, yeah you're gay dawg that is awesome! Way to go!' makes it seem like there is something different with being gay and it is an accomplishment that they've decided to admit it.

 

It's an accomplishment that she decided to admit it, she was hiding her true self and it took a lot of courage for her probably to come out. She was probably scared she'd be offered less roles and shunned from Hollywood. It's not an accomplishment that deserves an award, but it's self accomplishment and a mile stone in her life. When big time celebrities come out they're probably hoping it might take the stress off someone else so they to can come out as well, especially in the young gay community.

 

Good for her. It's pretty socially acceptable to be gay these days.
