Sticky reinforcement and forum removal

Stickies are only helpful if they are being read. It's importance can benefit many users and avoid predicaments later on.

My suggestion is, when viewing a forum for the first time you must read the important stickies of that forum to further proceed. That should be easy to implement.

As for the forum removal, it's sad and unfortunate, but Hearthstone needs to go. It's never being viewed by anyone including guests and when someone actually posts there, they are dismayed. It's really sad to see and should be removed.

I'd support the removal/archive of Hearthstone. It's only had a few replies in the span of three or four days. If the game was to pick up in the future and we saw a spike in activity in the general gaming forum we could consider the reimplementation of the forum again.

Is there not an option to potentially put the rules at the top of the forum itself (above all the topics/new topic button) it could have "Stop! Have you read our rules?" or we could have the whole set of the rules at the top of the forum as an alternative twist on this suggestion.

and suggest replacing hearthstone with a BETA section, for all discussion on upcoming betas and current betas. would be a nice go to section when looking for a new game to try.

I think it would be better to have each forum display it's own set of rules before entering. Are you talking about the general forum rules?

It needs to go because of it's inactivity. It's never being viewed by anyone, even now. I don't see what me making threads in the gaming section have to do with the suggestion of archiving/removing hearthstone. It's not exactly at the bottom and League of Legends get a lot of attention, just means the game isn't in demand.

Yet. The game's still in beta, and it's already regularly placing 2nd/3rd most streamed game on Twitch. Sure, there may not be a whole lot of discussion, but it's not harming the forum either at this point. I'm expecting an explosive growth for the game when the actual game launches.

If there's a place to discuss the game (and possibly a market, though currently that'd consist of only boosting), Sythe can have a share of the possible blackmarket that might develop. If the forum does not acknowledge its existence, nothing will develop because it's not worth it for people to come here.

The reply to thread ratio is nearly the same, but at what expense? Hearthstone only has 2 pages of threads while League has 500+ averaging the same number. It's not taking up space, but it's inactivity like I said leave people at dismay. It should not have it's own forum if there isn't much going on.

Definitely in favor of this.


Back to the other topic of sticky reinforcement. What do you guys think?

 

I've brought it up before, but Richard wasn't too fond of the idea of forcing people to view a thread they probably won't read anyways.

 

I am in 100% support of this.
Heartstone doesn't really get any attention at the moment, but other beta games could bring more traffic to this section.
It'd be a mess to keep track of, but when the traffic of an old beta dies out, this mess should resolve itself really

 

This is a neat idea - instead of specifically trying to target each game we could just summarize them into a Beta forum for all current betas. Support this for sure.

My only fear is how many betas actually pop up throughout the year?

 

I like the idea of a beta section. I play a lot of early access/beta games and I'd like something to maybe drive some traffic into the game section.

 

It would be up to them to read it or not. Not everyone is going to skip pass the stickies. I think it would be a good addition, nonetheless.

 

If they're going to read it, they'll read it whether it's required or not. Forcing threads on people will ultimately frustrate and drive them away.

I've been part of only one forum out of many that forced people to read threads. Needless to say, I stopped using that forum promptly.

 

This is completely true. And a lot of the stickies are fairly worthless anyways.

 

At the end of the day, stupid people will be stupid. Even if we read the stickies aloud to them they probably still wouldn't learn until they messed up and got scammed or infracted.

Hearthstone.. eh yeah, it's not the most active. I'm indifferent to it's removal.

 

Shall we go ahead with the renaming of it to something along the lines of "Beta Discussion" ?

 

Beta Discussion if moved under Gaming General sounds fine to me
