What car to get...

Need help with cars. (Please only post if you know what you are talking about)

I am thinking of a RS, they have the looks and deffinatly the power but are like £20k+



Or a ford st, again they are stylish and also decent power and cost a lot less! but I will always class it as a poor mans RS lol.



I also toy'd with the idea of a BMW 335i M-sport. Only problem is because there are so many variation of the '3' it will look the same unless you add some personal styling, adding to the cost!



But then its down to the VXR. I love vauxhall (I had one as my first car) loved the smell and drive, but to be able to have the high performance VXR would be sweet, its not as bold as the RS but packs a good enough punch to keep up and also beat it with simple mods. But the VXR is also dirt cheap!!! Its like £8-10 for a decent spec with low mileage.





.... Help me!!! Lol. Or suggest some. I looked at the Renault magane CUP and CORSA VXR, GOLF GTI / R32.

Why drive a car when you can drive a 4x4

 

The best way for you to decide on which car the pro's and cons is to each choice. Our opinion isn't going to be an effective measure in your day-to-day routines that a car is exceptionally important.

The RS, I want one myself. However with a family, 3 doors face it straight into the cons category.
Cons

• Fuel economy
• Cost of service
• Cost of Vehicle Tax
• Cost of insurance
• Cost of MOT
• The car would be personified into some filthy little slut which wants to be taken faster, faster and faster. Until your licence is none existent.
• Practicality

I think I could probably list a few more. However if you balance out the cons with the pros against the ST you'll find it's a much more worthy advisory. So a focus RS is hardly considered an expensive car, so a poor mans poor car isn't something to be ashamed of.. A Porche Boxter, yes. A ford focus, no.

 

I don't know if your from the US, but what makes you want a Ford? Everyone I ever known who has had a ford (truck never known anyone with a car, but one with a suv) has had engine problems at about 115k miles on it. The water pumps also went out, but they where all different (between 40 - 80k miles on it) If I where you I might just stay away from the brand all together. On the positive side, my cousin just bought a used ford edge sports edition and it's a very very smooth ride, nice looks, high tech accessories, and decent gas mileage.

BMW would be my pick but no personal experience with it. Also i'm the type of person who buys something for it to last, so I would customize my vehicle regardless, which makes looks equally as important as performance.

 

What's your budget? Judging by your photos it's obvious you're into sports cars, but you hardly named any of the popular ones...try looking into a Camaro and others alike?

 

Not sure tbh, depends on the car personally... Most of the cars on that list are between £15-25,000

The fuel doesnt bother me, as I will have a fuel card threw business, the insurance is cheap on the RS (£1400 for year). Yeah I have a family and having a car seat in the back is still possible!

But everytime I see a ST I just think they wasted there money shoulda forked out extra for the RS lol.

Its either between the BMW or RS tbh, but if you have any other suggestions!

Im from the UK, and fords are reliable here haha I know a lot of people with fords, not the high performance fords just the normal focus etc and they have no problems.

Not 100% sure I don't mind paying a bit extra if it is worth it, nothing stupid though haha.

If you have a fuel card why not consider a vxr8?

Alternatively an Audi s3?

Vxr8 > 3 series.

Ha wish I had money like that to buy a decent car... I just have a Fiat punto 1.2 active sport ( 3 door ) I've had it for like 3 years now! Nothing special... small car, rather quick.. gets me where I need to go.

 

Audi S3 seems good! reflects as a business car tbh, but its fast enough @ 260bhp. £14k for one with 60k+ miles (thats alot of miles though!) or £20k for a rs with 16k miles lol

To expensive at least 25k+ for a shitty one

Yeah, the Audi's tend to be a little higher priced. I'm currently looking at the RS4 Avant for my next car, but the cons of cost are making me reconsider.

If you can afford the RS, and the cons aren't overpowering the pros then I suggest you go with what your heart wants.

 

You stated to my post that Camaro isn't popular in the UK...well, why do you want to follow the crowd? Buy a Camaro and make it popular, plus it'll be unique you won't look like every other asshole trying to show off a car people will actually turn heads to look as it's rare to see one, or try another car like a Dodge or Mustang (Mustang is a douche-bags car though).

 

What I meant by not as popular is they are rocking horse shit, and way to expensive for the car also its left hand drive lol.

I would love a 1950+ Muscle car, but they will be horribly unreliable and constant need of attention and love haha, but yeah the Camaro and dodge look fab! But too over priced as they have to be imported etc :/ and left hand drive.

But yeah I don't know haha, I am still searching for that golden nugget haha.

Hmm the BMW 135i M looks sweet! Looks bland though.

 

I'd say go for one of the ford's in your OP.
They are very reliable, and pretty cheap in maintanance.

I would say you get a mustang, it would be sort of a stretch for you in the UK but honestly I have owned by 2003 mustang GT for about 3 years now and only MINOR mechanical problems with it. Its a panty dropper and its fairly fast. I put 410 gears in mine and man it will run for being only a 4.6L motor. ALSO look into to the Mustang Cobras or the Saleens. Those are really sweet cars.
