Pre-EoC (Legacy Mode) coming back!!!

Me being one of those enticed to come back XD just when you think you haven't played for 6 months you pick it back up. I think that revolution is an awesome idea and yeah it wont be exactly the same but now I have a reason to play again.

 

Revolution is a separate update to Legacy. There are two updates being planned. One is the combat beta which is an update to EoC and includes an upgrade to momentum and a revolution ability and also brings back special attacks as a separate ability depending on the weapon. This is likely to be live within the game in the next two to three months.

The second update is planned and the details are still being fleshed out. It involves bringing the entire old combat system to work alongside EoC but with the same items and dual weapons as we have now, but with the older layout and no abilities. The hope (and idea) is that you will be able to toggle between old combat and EoC depending on which you prefer. The issues are extremely wide ranging, from working out the balance between having two combat systems in a game. I am astonished people are welcoming this back with open arms because this just won't work, period. Can you imagine trying to balance out all the game mechanics? Bosses, Mini-games, Quests, PvM, PvP. We'll see people moan that the combat system they prefer is too weak etc etc. This is a silly update.

 

There is absolutely no reason for me to come back and I believe only a few people would return to this game. I haven't read this thread but I can only assume that people are talking about people returning. I support the initiative and voted yes on a few of my accounts, but I don't think I'd be returning for anything more than a trial run. The game has already been ruined by the micro-transactions, which isn't like the other updates they realized were bad ideas (free trade, wilderness). Regardless, I was manually banned by a Jmod so I don't feel safe playing the game anymore knowing they can ban people at any time for no reason.

 

The game is way past it's prime. I'd only consider coming back when EOC is gone completely and we all know that's not gonna happen.

 

I can't really see it working on rs3. In my opinion they should be putting more development into Oldschool.

 

I was a believer in old school..about a week ago. The game is honestly transitioning toward RS3. Its sad but true.

I like old school but the limited content is driving players away and with the talk of legacy, players are migrating toward RS3.

Currently, there are 14,500 players on OSRS while there are around 40k on RS3. If legacy comes back and it brings with it many of the old features, I personally do not see OSRS standing a chance on the number of players.

 

legacy is BS as it's just the same crap as EOC so people will maybe try but then get bored of it, me thinks. same crap as eoc but without the combat and interface... yay...

BORING! I'd only return if they would bring 2010-2011 RS back without the EOC + RS3 + new armour shit!

There's no official release date. However, they plan to have it out in the English Summer some time.

 

This+138 combat is a godsend. I just hope it's close enough to the old game.

 

Yep, I want old combat levels and HP too. I still dont get te HP system tbh

I'd like to be excited about this, but I just don't think I'll like it. It's not going to be how it used to be, duel wielding, things like that. I'm curious to see how its going to work out, and I'm very skeptical. If it's a lot like it used to be, i'll be happy. If not, i'll be disappointed.

I'm REALLY enjoying Revolution mode for PvM like Slayer. No more button mashing and it's really chill again. Though my 99 prayer is still wayyyy nerfed cuz of the 50 percent protection now.

 

My thoughts exactly. Even tho it was a desperate last attempt for jagex, The game is already ruined no matter what they do. The legacy will die out quicker than the 07 hype did.

Also i'm shocked to see them do this after all the 2007 effort they've put in, anyone with any basic knowledge can see that releasing legacy will obviously kill 2007 off which has made me mad. I'm currently 99 Atk 99 Str 80 def with 94 Mage on OS with barrow gloves. I now know I've wasted months training this as it will be dead on legacy release, It's already dying now. I'd hate to be some of those maxed OS players at top of leaderboards. All that time and effort wasted for a game that only lasted just over a year.
