Legacy Mode: One Small Step For Jagex

well it better be damn close to pre-eoc or i won't be playing that shit and none of my friends will... we won't play some "little less eoc" version of eoc. it' would be still EOC. but without some gamplay things but with all the other EOC-reminding things... :/

 

As long as I can click and sit again during combat, then I don't really care how close to real pre-eoc it is. Anything is better than nothing. Even to have the simplistic interface back is better than nothing at all.

Legacy will just be a button which switches you to the old interface and old combat style @nod - it'll work in both

 

Sounds like a gamebreaking update that will end up reversed and may actually DECREASE interest and players in the already dying RS community. I mean if it were seperate severs maybe but Jagex attempting to have both in same world at same time is just stupid. Pvp becomes instantly broken and all those monsters that got changed and or buffed will be fucked for people returning to old combat.

Ill look into selling now/soon. Appreciate it

Just having the old interface back with some PvM (even if not all) and maybe not even PvP will be enough for some older players to return.

 

Would this make pures useable again? Got a maxed pure just gathering dust.

 

They're not sure of specifics yet, it'll be a work in progress as of vote ending. They'll make it as close as possible but it'll be difficult to balance EoC with old combat calculation and exp etc.

 

I regret lvling my pure, ill probs turn it to a rank tank or somethin :/

 

Jagex back pedals so much there is no reason Runescape is going down the drain. I don't think there is too much they can do now. Runescape isn't like it once was and they're having a hard time competing. I mean the MMO market isn't what it once was really and RS was already lagging behind. I think the world is moving towards competitive esports more than it is MMO-Grindage.

 

Here's the thing: This isn't a new idea. When EoC came out, players were begging for the old combat system to exist alongside the new as a compromise if changes were to be made. Jagex (rightly so) said that it wasn't feasible to do that do to technical and balancing issues, that there really was no way for the two to coexist, and that EoC allowed them to do things that the 10 year old previous combat system patchwork coding wouldn't allow.

They were right. There isn't a way for the two systems to be working at the same time in the same way that it did back then.

 

It won't work in my opinion because everyone in rs3 is already maxed (due to 99s that could be botted easily or could be bought with spins) and there is too much money in the economy due to years and years of bots being around. I would keep rs3 and osrs separated.

 

Legacy Mode won’t have:
- Changes to ‘EoC bosses’ like Kalphite King, Vorago or ROTS.
- Changes to how XP is gained.
- Dual wielding removed.

Legacy mode, honestly, I was extremely happy to see the poll, obviously people are gunna vote for it. And he's jagex had a lot of work to do! But I'm interested in how there going to match normal all combat with eoc abilities, because facing a guy with abilities and a you with normal attacks would be pure slaughter, and I'm interested to see if "level 138" returns! Hopefully the legacy mode brings back more players! Glad jagex is finally listening to the players!

 

Its gonna be intresting to see how Jagex pulls this off, I personally can't wait and have been working on my RS3 account latley.
