What's the difference between luring and scamming?

I've seen many people wrting "luring guides" which have got deleted by someone saying "lol this is not luring, it's scamming".

So, what's the difference?

 

Luring is legally scamming
They want to buy something for extremly high prices & they kill u instead.

 

There isn't a difference. They're both types of scams, just one takes place in-game.

 

theres no difference, if u read jagex's definition of scamming, its "tricking or decieving another person for your own personal gain" or something, thats what luring is, regardless, its fun

theyre both scamming but luring involves tricking them to go somewhere and get killed etc. rather than scamming where you just rip them off

 

Well, yea luring you are deceiving people to step into the wild for one reason or another, but seeing as luring takes place in the wild, and you are actually killing them for the item it makes it legal. I'm not against luring, and I'm not against scamming(trade scams atleast). If you're stupid enough to fall for a trick and step in the wild with your precious rare, then frankly I think you deserve to lose it. If you don't bother to check your trade screens and get scammed off a bit of cash, then frankly.. you deserve it. I'm just not down when you're password is scammed/keylogged--that's just a bit overboard to me..

 

I think luring is not scamming. U just take someone to the wildy and kill them. With scamming U say like : I buy (item) for (extremely high price) and then u buy something worth 500k for 10k or something that is scamming to me. And luring is just getting dumb people into the wild with something worthfull. And then kill them

 

be warned with luring, jagex can ban u

 

If You use the mole or lumbridge caves lure, You could get banned, but if You use the classic wilderness lure, You won't get banned. Jagex said it's not against the rules.

 

I lure, I scam in stakes... I like both.

 

I believe that scamming can result easily in ones naivety. However, luring occurs due to ones greed and or stupidity. Lurers take advantage of peoples greed in order to draw them into the wild and thus, lose their items as a result.

Both are taking advantage of another, yet i believe luring focuses mainly on ones greed. (Espically if you are speaking of P2P Multi luring... good old days.) However, scamming is just taking advantage of ones naivety, due to them being new to the concept.

u dont get in trouble for luring the person who killed tehm was just"at the right place at the right time"
