    Thoughts on Prostitution?

If it's something they really want to do, I guess it'd be fine.
I still think prostitution is disgusting, though. Having sex with a girl who's been ridden more than a city bus? Not my cuppa tea (But I guess it might be because I'm a girl).
I'm not really a Christian, but I still believe that sex should just be for those who feel strong about each other. It just seems wrong to me that people would do it for no reason other than to make money.

Well I guess it should stay illegal because of the many religious views on the topic. Also, prostitution calls for human trafficking

Why should religion decide the law? Ridiculous.

Most of the population in my country are Christian and therefor are highly against prostitution. Our church plays a huge roll in whether laws be passed or denied. For many years, birth control and artificial contraception was against the law if you were under 18, just a few of the things our church has controlled

And how is that fair? That one religion, when all are based on the same belief principle, should rule above others?

    So?
Religion has ruled the world for years, that time is over.
Prostutition shouldn't be anybody's first choice, because the people in this 'job' almost never get out of it because of low payment, any ilnesses that come with it and of course the general taboo of prostitution.

I'm not saying it should be encouraged, but saying it's wrong because you were raised with a religious faith is just not right.

I'd say we value the choices that human beings make, even if we wouldn't do it ourselves, we shouldn't judge.

In Denmark it's a legit job. You can only practice "prostitution" as a business and they pay taxes. The way it was explained to me is that it's like a brothel and the shop gets taxed therefore the employees get taxed, just like any other job. They are selling a product, but instead of material goods, it's sexual services.

I agree with the legality some countries have placed on prostitution. I'd rather it be monitored and collect taxes from it rather than it happen anyway with no safety or benefit to the government. Actually costs us to put them on jail, for what..? "To protect the people" if they want to pay for sex with no regard what they may catch then why care?

Another way to look at it for those who think it should be illegal - it's just like porn without the camera. Those women do basically the same thing, and I'm sure you'd gasp in horror (most of you ;)) if that was illegal.

    Thoughts on Prostitution?

Personally I wouldn't pay someone for sex. I actually enjoy romance and having a close relationship with someone

Not sure about it being legal/illegal.
Being legal: With prostitution whether it's watched over or not you're still having sex with multiple people. This increases the amount of std being spread (will protection reduce how much it increases? sure, but increases nonetheless). A lot of people are also scared to tell their partner about their std and don't tell them so people might not even know about it. This just spreads and spreads.

Illegal: Just like other things like drugs it will be done secretly. Because it is illegal the amount of prostitution will be a bit lower. At the same time because it is illegal there are more dangers like kidnapping and brainwashing. Girls will be treated however because they can easily be overpowered and manipulated.

Also I feel bad about the vulnerable women who go into it basically because they think it's the best thing they can do for quick easy money and then affects them psychologically.
Same thing goes for porn industry. Everyone watches it, but they don't think about what goes behind the scenes sometimes. There are plenty of girls who love it though and enjoy the attention. The only person that can get them out if they don't like it is themselves I guess.

    tl;dr
Whores will be whores. Not much you can do except watch for your own safety if you don't want to catch anything.

I wouldn't pay for sex, but i guess either way you look at it you're still going to be essentially paying for sex even if it's with your gf or wife. Taking her to dinner or whatever it may be, you still have to pay bills to keep them happy ect. If you don't keep them happy then no sex for you.

If anyone plans on buying a hooker the only thing i'd suggest is you probably shouldn't purchase a hooker at the end of her shift or late night/early morning....lol

I don't think it's that big of a deal, though, I still think it should still be illegal. Reason being, streets would be flooded with women prostituting.

The punishment is so minor that it's basically legal.

Also, there's a difference between prostitution and sugar daddy's. I see prostitution more so as women trying to get a quick dick in their mouth, so they can get their quick fix/drugs. Where as, a sugar daddy is more for financial help (eg. bill payments, clothes, nails, hair, etc) Still prostitution, but it's much more accepted as money rules the world and a lot of guys are willing to help out a chick who has their shit together, but needs some extra $.

In politics, you should go for as little prohibition of freedom you can. Some people forget this and think it's ok to ban things, governments are usually culprits of these as well and become ban-happy governments.. You need a pretty good reason to put someone in jail for doing something rather than, I think the streets would be filled with prostitutes.
As long as it's illegal, you can go to jail for it, you cannot have middle grounds in law, either it's illegal or it is not. If it is illegal, you have to enforce it. It is impossible to enforce a law without the possibility of sending people who break it to jail.

Additionally, in places where it is legal, prostitutes don't whore around in their streets. Who would want a prostitute from the street when you can go to a regulated whorehouse.

That last statement...exactly. The places in Denmark, the prostitutes have to be tested regularly every 3 months and are given a card proving they are clean of any STDs. On the same token, I feel like the people going to these places should also have a similar card of proof to protect the prostitutes.

I think if America had whorehouses, it would lower American standards and make us look trashy.

On a second note, I completely disagree with you saying there are not middle grounds to laws; it's either legal or illegal. There's not only misdemeanors and felonys, but there's different degrees for each one. Some laws don't even carry jail time, but a fine. (eg. pot)

Yes, pot is illegal in most states, but most people could careless if they get caught because it's only a fine.

In my opinion it would be a hell of a lot easier and safer, for both parties, if whore-houses were made legal worldwide. (Or wherever the demand is large enough)

As previously mentioned, who'd pick a horrible bit of kit up of the side of the road and wind up with aids if they're presented with a legal, safe, tested environment. As long as all workers are tested often, and 'punters' provide the same sort of guarantee they're clean too, it would be a win-win for everybody. The workers would be a lot safer, the 'punters' would have a much slimmer chance of catching an STD or what not, and the government could tax it, which they love dearly.

Forza Germany & Austria.. Amazing whore houses!

I'm not familiar with USA laws, but I am familiar with political philosophy.
I can tell you that, the only difference between those kind of laws (misdemeanors and felonies) is the jail time and fine, and that there always is jail time (AKA neglecting freedom) if someone refuses to pay the fine.
You see, if you impose a fine, then the law breaker can chose not to pay the fine, then there are two kinds of systems, the one that does nothing about it, and the one that puts him in jail. The first system is effectively without the law since nothing happens when you break it, and the second is effectively restraining freedom from those who break it.

As an example, if there is a law against sodomy, and I engage in sodomy and am charged with a small fine, I would probably refuse to pay it, if I had the courage, then I would go to jail for sodomy (Even if the system labels it as going for avoiding to pay fines.)
I don't think there is any case of a law that is neither non-enforced, nor enforced-with-ulterior-jailtime. I'm welcome to any example.

I agree. With government regulation like in Denmark it would be alot safer. And considering it's basically already legal, I don't see why the government "formally" legalizes it and regulates it, like they did with pot in CO

I live in Singapore, and here prostitution is in fact legal. In most areas in southeast asia, prostitution is actually a big industry. The good thing though, is each worker is checked regularly for any transmitted diseases. So, really I dont think its that bad, if they are healthy.

Should be allowed/leglized, making things illegal just creates a black market for it, by legalising it's easier to regulate as well.
