It would be very helpful when browsing certain forums in search of services, to put the little status icon (the green or grey circle) to show if op is online/offline.

This would help users who are looking for items or services in a short term. It would also be useful for users looking for middlemen.

Not really sure if this is necessary. It doesn't take much effort to click the thread and/or the OP's profile to check if they're online.

Also, often times the most recent post will be a bump from the OP, indicating that they are probably online.

I get what you're saying, it would save a lot of time and shows the importance of being online. Usually ease of access suggestions are declined, but this isn't so bad.

Can't you just look at the first post and see if the op is online or not i don't think this is needed as you can just goto the first page to see

I'm sure he is aware and just wants to make it easier.

A wonderful option would be to only show threads of users who are online of a certain time period in that particular forum.

Oh ok well it would be nice to have like online or offline circle next to each thread when scrolling I would agree with that

No support, lots of market giants have workers to keep service 24/7. I'm assuming red/green dot would show only OP's status.

Are you saying would have workers keep the service 24/7 or already do?

If so, is that a bad thing? Taking into account the different time zones of the workers.

No support, it takes a second to open a thread and see if the OP is online.

Plus it would make the forum look cluttered if there were indicators by every thread.

No support for this reason alone:
A service is not always performed by the OP, as workers do some/most/all of the work.
Showing OP online status doesn't make sense in that way.

For example, I work for MMORPG, and I handle 99% of the rsgp Sythe deals, and all of our site's orders.
Showing MMORPG's online status wouldn't make sense because I do the job he's advertising on the threads.

    Cheers!

Hm, I agree with Dave in that it could make offline sellers appear inactive even though they are online on skype etc...

On the middleman forums it would still be useful, seen as OP's sythe online status is much more important than on, say, gold selling forums.

I'd still find it useful on most sections, but perhaps, as Dave pointed, it would be detrimental to sellers who are inactive on sythe, but active elsewhere.

Cas brought up the biggest reason I believe your suggestion shouldn't be implemented. Most major traders have workers or associates who pick up the slack when the owners themselves are offline.

Plus, it would make things look a decent amount more cluttered. No support from me.

Meh no support, it's pretty easy just to click the thread, read through it and then check in the poster is online.
