Just a 3D project. I was going to have it printed (1/4th scale, about a foot long) from shapeways.com, but apparently they disallow jobs that resemble weaponry of any kind... should have known, kind of a waste of time, but it still came out alright.

Looks good man. What program did you use to design it?

Was this just a fun project or did it have a purpose behind it?

I think it turned out great for what you were going for. Very simple, and would that actually be to scale? Seems to be a pretty long sword haha.

Sword replicas are 4 ft 6 inches approximately, the printout would have been 1 foot long

    typo, I meant 1/4 scale, not 1/6

Honestly I find it weird how a printing website will not allow you to print anything that resembles weaponry....not like were gonna start stabbing or shooting people with a print out of a sword or gun lol

You never know, imo it's obvious now that I know they refuse to print weapons. It's a very possible and very expensive lawsuit if someone blames the company. Not to mention, it's probably a legal clusterfuck to ship weapons to residential addresses. Like, you probably need all sorts of licenses and insurance policies to distribute anything classified as a weapon.

It's okay, could use some more detail though, you could have sculpted the blade and handle in zbrush.

There isn't much detail I missed, the only thing not included on the model is the inscription on the blade. Also, zbrush..? It's wasted effort to try and sculpt a geometric object in zbrush. It's good for organic shapes with a high amount of detail, not these sort of sterile models

Hmmm, honestly was kind of obvious they wouldn't allow it.

    Still nice job.

They allow miniatures not exceeding 10 centimeters, and I saw multiple miniature weapons available for purchase and figured any weapon could be printed. Who reads the terms of services anyway hue

Pretty sick. Should find a place that'll let you get the real replica.
