You can't do anything. He filed unauthorized and you have no proof that the owner is the one who sent you the payment. In the future only sell to trusted people or require confirmation information that you can provide to paypal incase it happens again.

If you had 0$ on that paypal account, ditch it and don't use paypal again.

The game i'm using means alot of mothers and buying for their children. it's not unusual.

I've spoke at length to the person the address details belong to, and he is seriously adamant it wasn't him and someone is committing identity fraud. if so, do I have any sort of case? I'm going to phone paypal and see if they can in any way verify the actual person behind the account or check for fraud.

 

Ebay buyer protection does not cover virtual goods I think you have slim chance of getting your money back

 

If I was you, I'd contact the police department in the county he resides in and file a report against him.

 

That doesn't work. at all.

 

If he has a confirmed paypal address, send him a letter and get tracking - might cost you about $10 but $10>$150 loss.


Sending him a letter would give you the slight chance of seller protection, (if his address is confirmed) We've done this in the past and it has been closed in our favor.

 

This + call his home phone.
Confirmed adresses can be traced back 90% of times to a landline number.
