Is it okay to cheat on an Exam/Test?

I don't think it's right, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Just like you, I've done it and felt bad. Of course it's not right because you may be tested on it upon a future job, but it's not exactly a crime to do it.
I'd say it's not wrong unless you do it all the time.

 

I rather have shit and legit grades than fake and good grades.
What comes around goes around, you will always get your payback.

Na i haven't, what i tried to say is just that i did indeed cheat on a exam when i was young (at age 14~) , but when u grow up, you realise, if you learn for it, and get good grades you can be proud at YOURSELF and not on some piece of paper which u cheated the exam with.

 

In my opinion, you should value your knowledge more than your grade from a class. If you cheat your way through a class, (not saying you are) then you don't learn anything. You may need that information later in life.
I focus more on building relationships with people in school because that will help me more in life than what I learn in class.

It's basically your ethics. Some people think it's wrong to cheat, some don't.
I'd say it's not necessarily wrong if you're in grade school, but it's not very smart either.

 

I was actually thinking about a similar question some days ago when discussing morality and ethics with some friends.
And having cheated before on an exam (it was for a useless class, so I didn't give it much attention), I think it is wrong to cheat on any exam - no matter how worthless the class is.
The way I see it, is you're essentially portraying a fake version of yourself and robbing everyone else of the truth (and also devaluing the entire process from those who actually spent time to study for the exam). Believing that it is wrong to cheat on anything in general will lead to a more honest life, and I think that will ultimately increase happiness. There are always the extreme cases though, and one can't neglect that. Suppose it's the deal breaker exam - the one that decides the fate of your future (pretty dramatic, but maybe the medical entrance exam or BAR, etc). Well, if this exam really does decide your future and you haven't prepared for it at all - what does that say about you and the future you hold? Surely if you can't prepare for the most important exam in your life, you have no business pursuing anything in that field when your spot could belong to someone who actually deserves it.

 

To me I would say if u cheat like once cause like u had some legit reason for not studying and its important then yea its fine. But if u make it a habit its wrong and to me its not worth it cuz eventually u learn nothing which is the ultimate goal of education and not just getting good grades

 

This is kinda like that Guy taking peoples SATs a few years about i saw about, guy took idk about 30 SAT tests for people and was charging them and getting damn near perfect scores. They got accepting into big colleges and now the colleges cannot kick them out after they found out about the incident. Honestly that is way above and that effects them so much it could help their lives out so much and also take away from others that actually earned that score.

Personally, i cheat on a test from time to time, if i didn't study or what not me and my buddies we make sure we all do good. But i can say i've never cheated on like a midterm/final. But if i saw the chance to take a near score with little risk i would take it. Thats just me.

hell yeah it is! i used to always cheat here and there, but sometimes it's impossible to cheat on a test which is when you had better did a little bit of studying.

just don't cheat to the point you don't learn anything. if you have to do it here and there, it's all good. grades are nothing tbh. they're made up.

here's a tip for you. i was ranked top 10 in my class freshman year, and by senior year i grew lazy and made ds and cs just to pass. however, i know im one of if not the MOST intelligent kid that graduated from my grade. i still listened and paid attention and did well on test, but i didn't do my classwork and homework most of the time. but i know i still took more away than the average kid.

 

It depends on what you expect to get from the class. Back in high school I'd cheat or copy on some tests simply because I didn't think I was really getting anything out of the test rather than a grade. Now that I think about it most of it was information that none of us will really use in the real world, but the information is really just as good as the person who's taking it in. For example, in high school I thought I'd definitely be going into computer science so I'd work hard in math and computer classes while slacking and cheating in other classes, but now that I'm in college I'm seriously considering going into writing and I'm really enjoying learning some of the information that I could have learned if I would have looked as some classes as a great learning experience rather than simply a graduation requirement.

So In my opinion the only one you're really impacting negatively by cheating is yourself.

 

that term "you won't need it in the real world' is true, but what those math equations you had to memorize was exercise your brain for real world issues.

so, essentially, those things you learned that were "useless" were in a way, but it gives you the fundamental skills that the real world may throw at you.

 

I've never cheated once on any tests. I personally would say that any tests cheated on before college / uni would be "okay". Any tests taken in college / uni shouldn't be cheated on IMO. These are the tests that you actually earn your future career through. You SHOULD pass these tests. I would use a doctor as an example. If they cheated in high school who cares? If they cheated on a medical exam of some nature they may not possess the skills to actually help people in the real world. Just my .02.

 

I believe the same thing, it doesn't really matter if you cheat on exam as long as it won't affect your future career, such as a class that you're majoring or minoring in. No one will care if you don't know how to do calculus perfectly if you're doing something like graphic design. However, you should do good and learn about what you like in college, so that way you can be successful in your future career.
