RuneScape - How to become a Player Moderator

Step 1: Change into a female character
Step 2: Follow a JMod's twitter
Step 3: Make a YouTube account with RS videos/guides
Step 4: Stay in a JMod's FC 24/7 and always use smileys
Step 5: Post on the forums a bit, act like you are moderating
Step 6: Pucker up

Now... We all know this is a bit unrealistic. But, it is not far from the truth...
Nowadays, it is a pretty embarrassing and pathetic position to see players have.

As a player moderator however,
Jagex give out requested, inactive RSN's to you.
- Also if you attend RuneFest.

Do you find the recruitment/RSN process fair? Why or why not?

 

I don't think you're right at all, and I find it to be very fair.

But that's just me.

 

I find PMods to be rather useless all in all. The idea is nice, but realistically it's just bragging rights for the ones who get it.


It's only natural that you need to get noticed by Jagex, there's no way to moderate every player's behaviour and see who's fit for PMod.

But yes, I'm glad you exposed the truth lol, this is the reason there are mostly only "females" in their chats, "female" pmods.. xD

 

I find most pmods to be fair, and many chosen in a good way, but there are some not very great pmods out there >.<

I do find the names to be fair since they are deserving of them (as long as they aren't bad natured ofc)

 

I find your assessment to be semi accurate, I think ass kissing will only get one so far though. From my experience over the many years I've played, most of the pmods are relatively fair. Of course there are some that abuse their powers, but that's how it has really always been - and they'll eventually get de-modded. But yea...the process is such shit now, and a lot of people that don't deserve that status have it.

To be honest, that's what's ruined name sales, aswell as the removal of gambling, hence why the name market crashed like fuck. If they didn't give away names then there wouldn't be a problem, I've heard that they weren't all 'inactive' either.

 

Being a mod I think has lost its charm a little. People have moved on and no one cares as much. But congrats to those that do become mods, particularly those that become ones out of the blue.

 

That's true, they released one of my names that was active, to some stupid pmod that 1 freaking month later changes FROM the name he stole from me to "GTA". So he was just being a dick, jagex too... giving a name to someone that just changes after a month...

 

Yup, there was thread like that, friend of mine who is pmod showed me it once ;P however pmod is cool lol. Lots of priviledges for no responsibilities at all

 

That is probably how 9/10 online community staffing happens. If the current staff don't know/want you in the team, why would they bring you up?
Most P-mods are active, veteran players. Obviously it's going to up your chances if a JMod notices you in their clan being helpful, or if someone can put a good word in for you in the PMod lounge. You'll never be noticed in a game with so many players. It's common sense.
Who'd want to be a PMod on Runescape anyways, you can't get on with the game because of people annoying you and everyone hates you for no reason. There's no benefit to being an RS PMod.

E.g. Rogie a.k.a Skiller is a PMod video maker and silentc0re was a normal video maker, silentc0re got JMod over Rogie - so PMods aren't as great as made out to be.

 

What's the point on being a player moderator unless you want to sell your account???

Yeah, I heard you have to give a lot of info and confirm with a letter. I've seen a few pmod accounts for sale on here before.

 

Most of the time the pmod would get taken away right away tho
