    Problems Sleeping

I have had a hard time falling asleep in the past few weeks.

I know I feel stressed, but I don't feel insanely stressed and I can't pinpoint an individual stressor.

What should I do to attempt to destress, this lack of sleep is taking a physical toll on my body..... I have been laying down the past hour and a half in silence, then with soft calming sounds, then soft music and then a movie and nothing is working.

Turn off music, get a white noise going, do more activity during your day. I also highly suggest that you stop thinking about it. Just think about something else and stay on subject. You can't force yourself asleep, you can only let it come to you. Good luck!

    1. Ejaculation requires a lot of energy. Have you tried having sex or masturbating before going to sleep? That always helps me out.

    2. Take a warm shower.

    3. Drink warm milk

    4. The Pirate Ship
    1) lie down with in the soldier position (or whichever position is most comfortable to you)
    2) Close your eyes. Imagine that you are riding the Pirate Ship ride (the ones you see in amusement parks) in the middle of the forest. alone nothing else around you, just trees.
    3) Look at your surroundings in a first-person perspective. Feel and hear the wind as it brushes by your face. Feel the swing of the pirate ship. Concentrate

Why not give it a try? (creds to me, I made this up :p )

    What works for me:

Go for a quick run (even 10 minutes) before bed. For some people it'll keep them awake, for others it'll make them fall asleep quickly. Be careful of murderers though.

Have you ever had Kava? It's quite good for relaxing you, it's like a natural anxiety herb or something.

Codeine is good if you are desperate, I take it the night before exams to relax me and help me sleep.

Weed is very good for sleeping but a lot of effort if you don't actually smoke it already.

It's cold as shit out man, we're not polar bears :/
But i get what you're trying to recommend and I like it; I guess that it helps you sleep and wards off obesity at the same time.

Do you think that weights are a good alternative?
Or does it have to be cardio

Any physical exercise would probably work I'd say. Even doing heaps of sit ups and push ups may do the trick.

Avoid distractions. Lights, tv, music, sound and take a warm shower and or drink a glass of milk. This just relax your body enough for you to go to sleep. Also make sure your sleeping pattern isn't fucked.

    ^This is the best advice...

Make sure you're completely relaxed and as comfortable as possible. Try to focus on relaxing every part of your body.

do some workouts, or masturbate. If you're still not tired try to play some music very quietly. I always fall asleep with music on. If it still doesn't work, try to count to 100. once you're done, say "done" and count to 200. Keep going up and see how far you get. Most of the time i'm asleep by 1000.

You can also get some melatonin at the pharmacy, it seems to help people fall asleep. If not try to take a depressant or something, Nyquil usually makes me fall asleep as well.

I used to have this problem. I realized i was trying too hard to fall asleep. Try just laying down watching tv and not thinking about anything, before you know it you should be waking up.

What works best for me when I have this problem is ill go outside for a while and watch some tv and take my mind of things before returning to the room. Try to have ur mind not occupied with anything and falling alsleep should be easier.

Avoid excessive lighting and using devices such as laptop, phone etc before bed. The artificial light they provide can fuck with your body clock which in turn can ruin your sleeping pattern.

Also, keep the time you go to sleep relatively constant. If it gets to sporadic you may have trouble sleeping.

What's the reason for not sleeping though?

Do you just sit there and are full of energy?
Do your thoughts constantly go back and forth "what if this.." "tomorrow I'll.." stuff like that?

If it's the energy part, then do what people recommended above. Do something requiring energy (Masturbating, push ups, sit ups, etc) right before bed.

If it's the thoughts part, you may have insomnia. I found "Melatonin" works wonders with this. All natural, and works pretty fast.

Also, getting off anything that emits light (Phone, Tablet, Computer, TV) an hour or two before you plan to sleep works. The light tricks your brain into thinking it's daytime and releases stuff in your brain to make you more awake.

You have a TV outside? LOL, I think weed or masturbation/sex are great stress relievers. Try it!

It looks like everyone already said everything, so I'm not going repeat it. There is also always medication. Of course it's never good to become dependent on a drug, but sometimes its necessary. I sometimes have trouble sleeping. It's hard for me to fall asleep and I wake up often, so I don't really get good sleep. It's really hard to function after 2-3 days of no sleep. By the 3rd day, you usually begin to trip actually and that really starts messing with you. I'm a very light sleeper too, so I can rarely fall asleep with the TV or music on unless I'm just exhausted. The only thing that helps me is just fantasizing about something positive to take my mind off things.

Here are some medications that I have experience with that will help you sleep.

Benedryl (same drug that is also in Tylenol PM, Unisom, etc)
    Nyquil
    Trazodone
    Ambien
    Lunesta
    Flexeril
    Gabapentin
    Soma
    Promethazine
    Seroquil
Any Benzodiazepine, which is guaranteed to work, but should only be used as a last resort. (Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, Lorazepam, Temazepam)

Alot of sleeping drugs are dangerous or addictive. I'd stay away from them at all costs.

try listening to static, but at a very low volume they have tons of YouTube vids of it some lasting 10 hours long just for that purpose, if that doesn't work just keep your eyes closed and try your best not to open them no matter what you do.

and if you have a fan try turning it on
