Hiring someone to gold farm for you

Has anyone ever hired someone else to gold farm/known someone that has done this?

What I mean is that, instead of botting, you outsource the work to e.g. India/China and they play on multiple accounts for you.

Let's say you employed them at a rate of $0.3/hour, which seems reasonable. Now, assuming they can play on 5 accounts at a time, you'll be farming at say 100K-150K/hr.

At only 100K/hr, 5 accounts is 500K/hr = about $1.50.

Obviously you'd have to deduct membership costs and labour, but this could be a more viable method than botting. Only because you are all clueless and get banned instantly .

You could hire someone that hasn't played the game before, teach them the basics, and off they go.

Sorry if this idea is stupid, I'm a little tipsy when writing this.

 

It's actually a viable idea but people can be unpredictable.

 

Yeah I suppose it would also take a bit of training if they've never played before. OSRS is fairly straight forward though.

 

why would they bother taking 0.3 from you an hour if they can just do it themselves and sell the gold and make more?

 

Because they don't have the money to invest or any idea how. I know someone who trained someone from Bulgeria to operate a gold farm, just fix the bots if they ever logged out and ran difrent scripts for particular randoms.

 

Besides the fact that goldfarming is actually illegal in China, yes of course there is a potential for profit.

edit: But if you think about it the profit's would be an absolute waste of time. Even if you hired 10 workers making 0.30/hour it'd break down something like this.

$15 profit an hour assuming that they're 100% productive running those 5 accounts the entire time
-salary
-taxes
-membership costs
-bans
-rent
-computers
-electricity
-legal fees
-hiring expense
-selling expense
etc..


At the best even with 10 workers coming in every single day to gold farm you're only making a few dollars an hour. If you took that time to organize a real business with workers doing/selling something else you'd be making quite a bit more. So essentially if you're capable of making that happen it'd be an absolute waste of time.

I don't hand do it but I actually have offered this exact thing in the past too hard to keep memberships n what not up to date on a huge farm so i downsized to about half and then the rest is just open for who ever wanted in I haven't done this in a long time but I know there are other people who do this. as for if you want REAL people to do this I wouldn't try very hard to find good workers that are trust-able.

 

i don't think goldfarming is illegal at any country of the world. Jagex will not report you to police because it doesnt worth it and you receive money from PP and pass to your bank account is not illegal, so how would u get caught or anything like that? Goldfarming on osrs or eoc is a goldmine since u just "work" about 1h/day selling the stuff or doing other things releated to the farm.

 

Actually it is illegal in places, China I know for sure. (manual goldfarming that is)

 

I think communication would be difficult here. Those willing to work for that rate would undoubtedly have very limited English, so this would be relying on your ability to speak Mandarin / whatever dialect BUT I would say yes there would be a potential profit there - I just asked one of my friends (majority of her family resides in China), and apparently the ~equivalent of 30c/h is well above their hourly rate.

Yeah, its a Chinese law to prevent gold farming sweat shops. Its the manual gold farming that he was talking about (even if the conditions are good and they're paid minimum wage it isn't allowed) Just administering a bot farm is probably still legal however.

 

I suppose if you learnt their native language you would have loads of them to choose from, however, you'd have trouble finding a person that would know how to set up, and play Runescape on a few browsers at a time.

 

This is only viable on a large scale not worth it for 5 accounts, maybe 30+ accs
