Military Benefits in Your Country

I live in S.Korea and here, military service is mandatory for all men unless they have some physical/mental disabilities.

You're paid an average of around $70 per month during your 2 years (that's a whopping $50 raise from pre-2001)
If you die during combat, the government pays up to $10 for your funeral services.
There are no benefits after discharge whatsoever.

How's it in your country?

 

Is $70 per month a lot in South Korea?

 

I'm enlisted in the US Army right now, and as an E-1, we received roughly $1800/Month. Every rank up is roughly $200 more a month, until you hit about E-5.

We have multiple life insurance policies. My dad has a $250k (he was a US Marine for 5 years), and I believe mine is about $400k.

 

In Brazil you don't have any benefit at all, just food and a place to sleep.

There is mandatory services of one year up to two years in Turkey, and as far as I know you don't get paid either.

 

I'm a cadet in reserves at the moment, and I get 450 dollars per month, plus 1400 dollars every 3 months for studying chinese. When I commission, I'll be making about 3.5K per month starting paygrade. I'll get free and absolute healthcare for myself and my dependents. I'll have access to free legal counsel at any time I wish from USAF jag officers. I get to shop at the BX on base, which is basically a costco with walmart prices, and NO tax. My masters degree schooling will be paid for in full. I'll get about 1K more dollars per month for housing and food. Funeral services are paid for. Millions in life insurance when deployed, still substantial amounts if not. I get to travel for free anywhere there's space available on already-scheduled flights. Say a flight is deploying to guam, or taking people to ramstein germany, I could jump on that plane and travel with them for free, if there's room.

I recently got out of the Army (USA). I guess they treat you pretty well when you get out.

I went enlisted, when I got out my pay was roughly $2200 a month. The pay I considered to be great...not the pay alone but everything else you get with it. When I moved out of the Barracks and into off post housing I'd get about an extra 300 a month as a food stipend...usually when you live in the barracks they don't give it to you and give you a "meal card" instead which you can use at any of the dfacs (cafeteria). Then on top of that since I moved out of the barracks I started receiving "BAH" (Basic allowance for housing). Which was around $900. It all depends on the area code in which you live. Some posts give more BAH some give Less.

Sum up the pay:
$2200 basic pay
$300 food stipend
$900 BAH (basic allowance for housing)

**Also if you have a wife/kids you get money for them also, but I don't have any so it wasn't applicable for me**

I got to go to some cool schools while I was in, airborne school, air assault, Fries/spies...failed out of pathfinder (whomp whomp haha).


Now that I'm out hindsight I should have stayed in but I'm taking advantage of what they have to offer. Now I'm going to college all on the army's dime.
They pay for:

Full tuition
$500 a semester to help cover books
$2400 a month for BAH throughout the semester (once the semester officially ends so does BAH)

There are medical benefits too when you get out...but I have yet to take advantage of that which I really should!

I'm personally not an officer. E stand for Enlisted, which is just normal, active duty people who fall under the Officers. Officer ranks would start with O. Easy enough, right?

And yes, I forgot to mention BAH, free schooling, meal cards, meal allowance, etc.

For the Officers, the Army, Marine Corps, and the Air Force all share the same rank structure.

And I know Mohtasa is in ROTC for the Air Force. When he graduates and becomes an officer, he'll be an O-1, which is 2LT.

Don't see a reason why they should be excused, but celebrities were able to serve as military specialists until mid-2013 or so.
Four celebrities were caught abusing their privileges and it was abolished..

 

That is sick. You can fly anywhere an unlimited amount of times even if it is not military related (say you want to visit someone)?

In America you're paid more upfront then you do in 1 year(or whole service) basically.
