Need Advice On This Starter Ranged Tank!

Hey there. I recently renewed membership on the first 07 account that I started playing for the first few days of release. Its initial intention was to be a ranged tank. With that in mind, I would like to continue that goal and see where I can get.

So what should I focus on from here? My goal is to keep 15 prayer so I can use this account for staking in the future. Should I start training my range or focus on more quests?

So far two important quests I've gotten done on the account are Ava's and Dragon Slayer. Any input would be appreciated. I plan on making a goals and achievement thread with this account so stay posted!

 

If your going for high hp it doesn't rlly matter if u quest ur def unless u need the quest for certain things. If not I'll just focus on training range. Gl tho

 

Well I know Barrows Gloves is a goal for Ranged Tanks and I need 176 qp for that, however I don't know if it's possible with 15 Prayer. This will be my the lowest prayer I've maintained on any account I've made.

 

You can get b gloves with 15 prayer. I would advise training your attack to 60 before you train defense so you don't waste too much time.

 

I also don't know how I'm going to do range without chinning (no 43 prayer). Last time I tried botting I got banned for 3 days so I feel botting is still risky. Was looking to do everything on this account legit.

 

Get full void, seriously worth both for training and the eventual PKing.
B gloves isn't necessary per se. Questing for vengeance would be way more beneficial, so I'd work on striving for that. Chip away at the skills necessary for veng now, so it's less of a chore later. Just my advice
And get void 1 piece at a time.


(This is if you're playing legit. If you're botting, different ballgame. Just yolo it)

 

Thanks for the response. While working on the stats for Vengeance, I'd also be killing two birds with one stone because I do feel like I'd need barrows gloves when I'm not Void PKing.

Does anyone have a list of quests for a 15 prayer Ranged Tank to get barrows gloves? (no prayer xp quests besides priest in peril)

 

If I were you I'd keep attack/strength as low as possible, just quest them and then round the number off, so 50/50 maybe

40/40 would be perfect but with quests probably impossible

 

priest in peril and restless ghost are your prayer xp. I'll get a quest list in a couple days when I finish off barrows gloves on my 15 prayer rune pure.

That is counter productive. You gain nothing by keeping them so low when you could get 70/70 without a combat level.

Correct.. It'd be best to be 44, or if you can take that extra combat level, 52 and smiting. The 15% is well worth the combat levels. WELL worth.

 

Don't bother questing the DEF unless the quest is usefull (dragon slayer), (monkey madness [YOU WILL WANT D SCIM TO TRAIN DEF WHEN YOU ARE LIKE 80DEF]).

 

This basically, prayer is way too important on a range tank.

 

15-52 prayer is 5 combat levels. 5 combat levels is 15 range levels and 10% extra damage at 83-85 range is not equivalent to 99 range. The 15 prayer account has a max hit of 2 higher than the 52 prayer account and 1 higher than the 44 prayer account.

 

Mainly 15 prayer for staking and less combat levels. It really does work. I got the idea after viewing a video another Sythe user posted of his 15 Prayer tank.

I've been looking for a quest list to stay 15 Prayer and get b gloves but couldn't find anything. There's gotta be something out there.

 

Just do the usual b gloves quests that don't require prayer. It just means you have to do some less than optimal quests to make up the qp gained by easy quests with prayer rewards.

 

Just my advice but I think you should get a higher pray level and not stake on the range tank so training/ questing is easier.

 

I do agree that getting 43 prayer and just chinning 70-99 Range would be the easy way out however, the amount of combat levels you save staying 15 prayer can be very advantageous in both staking and pking.

 

I would get 44 range and then chin.
